Creating a merged page of dahlia cultivars[edit]

Original merge discussion was started at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Horticulture_and_Gardening#Merge_together_all_the_dahlia_cultivars.

I would like to propose a merger of all the minor dahlia cultivars into a single page, rather than many individual pages. This would create a much more informative article and one where the reader can easily browse and compare different types. Notable cultivars can remain independent pages (such as Dahlia 'Bishop of Llandaff'), but ones that can be merged include:

Support merge. I suppose there could be a case for merging, instead, into Dahlia, but given the existence of other dahlia list pages, I think that this new list page is probably the best idea. In any case, the stub pages that are to be merged into this one should not remain as standalone pages. However, the information from the existing pages about site and soil, etc. should be deleted per WP:NOTHOWTO. In other words, it is appropriate to describe what the plants look like (height, color), but not how to take care of them in a garden. --Tryptofish (talk) 17:32, 2 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
