Political Figures update - Jeanne Hopkins Lucas

NC State Senator Jeanne Hopkins Lucas was initiated in the Alpha Lambda Chapter of DST at North Carolina Central University. She is both the first elected and appointed African American female Senator in the state of North Carolina. She is a native of Durham, NC and was a French/Spanish and Drama teacher at the historic Hillside High School in Durham before becoming a state legislator. She was also a member of the Links Inc. and the National Council of Negro Women.
