Article title[edit]

The title of this article - Giant deities - is obviously unacceptable. The subject of the article is not simply giant deities in general, as the title suggests, but specifically giant deities in Dungeons & Dragons. Thus, the article needs a title that reflects its subject. I don't believe the revert of my article move by Pppery was appropriate. I also don't believe that a request for comment should override common sense in this matter. FreeKnowledgeCreator (talk) 01:14, 5 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflict) I disagree. There was a publicized rfc on this very issue - titles that lack precision but don't conflict, which closed as consensus to not disambiguate. Start an RM or another RfC if you really want this to be moved. Pppery 01:18, 5 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The fact that there isn't another Wikipedia article concerned specifically with giant deities shouldn't be the issue. The issue is, rather, that the article title does not properly reflect the article's subject and is, therefore, misleading to readers. The absence of other articles on giant deities doesn't make the current title of the article any the less misleading or unhelpful. Was it really the purpose of that RfC to completely rule out disambiguation in all cases like this one? If it was, that seems totally unreasonable. FreeKnowledgeCreator (talk) 01:22, 5 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That's my reading of that RfC's closing statement. Again, start an RM or another RfC if you wish to change this. (But I plan to oppose it). Pppery 01:24, 5 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

For what it's worth, I agree that the disambiguation is not needed here, and am glad to see Elf deities moved page to where it is now. My only question is, are there any deities for elves / giants / etc. in other fiction that this needs to be disambiguated from? And if so, is there a better solution? Move discussion in progress[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Dwarf deities which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 07:47, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
