Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedy deleted as duplicating an existing English Wikipedia topic because the article focuses specifically upon English cheeses. This new article already has content in it that is not in the List of British cheeses article. It's also very premature and hasty to nominate this article for speedy deletion as duplicative while I'm still working on expanding the article. North America1000 22:18, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

How many cheeses?

[edit]

> Over 700 varieties of cheese are produced in England. <

While it's quite true there are very many English cheese varieties, I don't think that number of 700 should be allowed to stand. It appears to come ultimately from the The British Cheese Board's statement that "there are over 700 named British cheeses produced in the UK" (my emphasis) -- that is to say, in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland taken together. If there is a reliably sourced figure for English cheeses somewhere, perhaps someone might add it to the article? -- Picapica (talk) 11:21, 26 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Suggesti0n

[edit]

The list could be improved if it pointed out that Cheshire is the oldest English cheese. Vorbee (talk) 17:37, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
