Virtual Console Releases

[edit]

Is there a reason the Wii Virtual Console releases of FF 1, 2 and 6 aren't included? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.183.246.24 (talk) 03:47, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can't edit properly

[edit]

Sorry, I tried to help with the FFIII iOs info, but I can't fix the sidebar! The game was released worldwide on March 24, 2011. User:Shintenpu —Preceding undated comment added 23:58, 4 April 2011 (UTC).[reply]

Kingdom Hearts?

[edit]

Hey PresN, what was your rationale for removing Kingdom Hearts as a spin-off? Axem Titanium (talk) 12:21, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also, Ehrgeiz. They're both on the main FF navbox at the bottom of each page so why not include them on this list? Axem Titanium (talk) 12:48, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hrmm, according to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Square Enix/archive/7#List of Final Fantasy video games, my final call was "I'm leaving off Kingdom Hearts- although FF characters have cameo roles, the world is unique, and it was never marketed as a "Final Fantasy" game, but rather as a unique series." Bread Ninja agreed, while Guyinblack didn't strongly object. Ehrgeiz is the same thing, I think- never marketed as a "Final Fantasy" game, it just included some FF characters. It would be like calling Soulcalibur IV a Star Wars spinoff. I'm not terribly attached to not including them, though, so if you feel strongly about it I suppose they can be added. --PresN 13:53, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, that sounds fair. Also, a few of the original release dates seem off. For example, the first NA release of FFII was the PlayStation Origins release. Or was your rationale to list only the first standalone release for each region? Axem Titanium (talk) 09:46, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That seems to be what I did, but it wasn't on purpose. I'll change it to the first release of any kind- the same thing goes for the Europe release of FF4. --PresN 14:35, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

References (Archive)

[edit]

Can someone archive the references? Some refs are dead. WebCite can help you. Thanks, T.R.Elven (talk) 21:50, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed the four that I found using Checklinks. Are there more you can see? Axem Titanium (talk) 02:17, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Saga / Final Fantasy Legend

[edit]

While it's true that these games were marketed in NA under the title, they are not part of the series in anyway. I think that should be removed from "spin-off" list. Readers can read about it on their pages.

There are other games such as Kingdom Hearts which are closer related to being a spin-off via content (not name) then the Saga series. Since they are not included I think Saga Series should be removed.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Tyros1972 (talkcontribs)

Didn't we talk about this two weeks ago? I think the same reasoning still applies. Under "notes" for FFL, it clearly states that the first 3 SaGa games were rebranded/marketed as "Final Fantasy" in North America. You were mentioning that US gamers still confuse FFL as part of the FF series. Isn't this the perfect place to clear that misunderstanding up? Removing it will just leave people confused since they will wonder "why isn't FFL here? I thought it was a Final Fantasy video game that belongs on the 'List of Final Fantasy video games'". Axem Titanium (talk) 16:37, 1 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes we talked about it concerning the nav box, but not this list. Yep I agree very good point and does indeed explain it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tyros1972 (talkcontribs) 18:34, 1 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

FF Anthology (Europe) release date

[edit]

This article says it was released in 2000-10-05. But this link says 2002-02-27. This link says 2002-05-01.

Who is right???--Prima.philosophiaD.C 21:19, 19 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing this out. Quite strange. So- for one Mobygames is utterly unreliable, since anyone can submit information. I'm quite annoyed that this article is referencing it, and I don't think it was me that did it. I'd say that the Gamespot one is right- it's generally reliable, and I'd trust it over other big databases if there's a contradiction.
It looks like the list had two sources for FFAnthology Europe- one for the date (mobygames) and one for the contents (gamespot). When it was originally promoted to Featured List in 2010 (i.e. when I wrote it) the date reference was to Neoseeker (not a great source) and said the date was May 17, 2002. Possibly the gamespot one did not used to have the date, and someone else later changed the reference to mobygames and was not reverted. As it does now, I've moved everything to point to the gamespot ref, and corrected any wrong dates. --PresN 01:01, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. I'll correct the releases dates on FFIV and FFV too.--Prima.philosophiaD.C 03:11, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

some games it misses

[edit]

please add dissidia opera omnia, world of final fantasy meli-melo and Theatrhythm Final Fantasy All-Star Carnival. i also think that dirge of cerberus lost episode is a standalone game that should be separated from ps2 dirge of cerberus --SquallLeonhart_ITA (talk) 15:52, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

it still misses World of final fantasy Meli-melo and Theatrhythm Final Fantasy All-Star Carnival. it also misses Final Fantasy Explorers-Force and Final Fantasy Digital Card Game SquallLeonhart_ITA (talk) 13:57, 19 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think every standalone game's been added up to now, thanks. I would only still add under the "Bundled releases" section the 2023 Final Fantasy I-VI Collection for PS4 and Switch (it contains the 6 pixel remasters) and the 2020 Collection of SaGa Final Fantasy Legend. --SquallLeonhart_ITA (talk) 13:58, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

SaGa

[edit]

I realize that that final fantasy legends games were released in Japan under alternate names, however I took the liberty of adding the Japanese release dates to each game. Ariserix (talk) 03:20, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
