Major Page Update Coming Soon[edit]

I have seen that the Heimat page hasn't been very active or updated. Barely any edits on this 'episodes' page, especially considering the main page has existed for over a decade. I myself have been watching them the past few months and noting everything down, as well as other information that will be incredible helpful to expand production and reception, as there is a lot of great detail in a booklet that came in the DVDs of Heimat 1-3.

On my sandbox I have been re-creating this page and its "List of Heimat episodes" where once I have completed in several weeks I will update it all onto this main page. It will include detailed synopsis for each film and it's "episodes" it was cut down to for easier viewing, and also the helpful information (Development, pre-production to release & reception) from the booklet in my DVD boxsets and some other websites.

I am writing this purely to inform anyone who will look at these talk pages, as I feel it needs a major update as it is quite lacking at the moment, in detail and information linking to the 'sequels'. Heimatchen (talk) 09:15, 5 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Major Update Finally Here![edit]

After several months of watching the films, with plenty of notes concerning the story and characters I have created 'plots' for all of Heimat and the majority of Heimat 2, which I will likely finish over Christmas/New Year. I have tried to condense the plots down as much as I can, but as each 'episode' or 'part' is feature length, it is very respective it to be treated as one. They were shown at the cinema in these parts as well.

I will follow into Heimat 3, Fragments and Home From Home in 2018. Note - Heimat 3 has individual BBFC certificates for each 'episode' or 'part', this in part justifies the likely long plot detail compared to Heimat 1 and 2. Heimatchen (talk) 22:09, 11 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"Multiple Issues"[edit]

"-THIS ARTICLE HAS MULTIPLE ISSUES - PLEASE HELP improve it OR DISCUSS ON TALK PAGE-

  • Article does not cite any sources.
  • Article's plot may be too long.
  • Article may require copy editing."

I resent this claim. If had been checked on this and the main talk page, I posted a while ago that this was a work in progress as I am gradually watching through the entire film series making notes on the story as well as researching background information online (which there is very little) and also in magazines etc.

A question about the first 'issue'. I have never seen an "episode" page or a "plot" cite sources, and I presume the issue is there about the plot? The reference is the film itself surely? If the lack of sources is not about the plot, please expand on what you mean and I will do my best to look for it.

About the 'excessively detailed' plot. Each main "Heimat" film is over 12 hours long, with the second double that. The films were released at the cinema and limited places showed it in full due to the vast time, so instead edited into watchable "episodes". Imagine it like the "Star Wars" episodes. When shown on TV, these episodes were how it was shown. Heimat is and originally was an epic long-running movie. Each 'episode' can run from 60-150 minutes long. The plot's are generally long in each film and have many details and situations that impact the film in the long-run.

As I watched the films and made notes on the plot I have cut down as much as I can. But I will continue to re-read and see what can be cut out to lower word/character count.

Regarding basic copy editing, for gammar or spelling etc, please edit into whatever is the appropriate 'language' for this page. Even though it is a German movie, I wrote it in British English, and obviously more than happy for corrections to be made more consistent with Wikipedia standards.

A final point, if you check the edit history of "Heimat", you will have seen I have contributed more edits by single editor, than there has since the page was created over a decade ago. It is not a popular movie, it is more of a famous 'underground' film in the English world. It has only I believe aired in the UK twice, once on original UK release and second only 2017 in it's remastered format. Talking of which, it will be released soon in the UK for the first time on Blu-Ray and features special features and interviews. I will be getting this, and if there is anything that can be worthy to add or source (backup) to this article I will gladly reference to any special feature.
