[edit]

Because it was getting too long, I moved the list of motorcycles to List of Honda motorcycles Cadillac 20:39, 12 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

some images of a vehicle called a Honda Caren. appears to be a micro built off of a motor cycle. the site also has some tech specs and features listed. http://www.microcarmuseum.com/tour/honda-caren.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.197.77.114 (talk) 03:00, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This article should be renamed to List of Honda automobiles or List of Honda cars, now that the motorcycles have been moved to a separate page. Any List of Honda 'vehicles' should not exclude motorcycles. Király-Seth (talk) 01:47, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Should Acura have its own list?

[edit]

See Draft:List of Acura vehicles. Is this necessary? AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:03, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No, because Acura vehicles are just rebaged Honda vehicles. Acura is a brand name primarily taregeted at the North American market pretty much unknown in many other countries. Even the car I believe Acura ist best known for, the NSX, has an article on Wikipedia called Honda NSX. --Johannes (Talk) (Contribs) (Articles) 19:35, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Most of the current Acura models are not rebadges. Sharing platforms with Honda vehicles doesn't count. You could tack the list onto List of Honda automobiles, but that list is already pretty long. There is precedence to splitting a luxury marque, for example List of Lexus vehicles. --Vossanova o< 21:42, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I would say yes - in fact, I'm surprised there wasn't one already. It's not uncommon for a marque to have a list such as this, no matter how closely related its vehicles are to those of another. --Sable232 (talk) 01:27, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes With the exception of the NSX (and possibly the ILX), Acura doesn't presently sell any cars that are easily identified as Hondas. Outside of North America, Acura is also sold in Mexico, Hong Kong, Ukraine, and China. I think it is best to follow the precedence followed by other luxury marques rather than making its parent marque list longer (a list that needs attention anyways). --SteveCof00 (talk) 10:09, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
What Acura is not rebadged Honda? all their models are Hondas or slighly different body panels, but all are basically Hondas underneath -->Typ932 T·C 08:13, 13 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes This is necessary. Acura is more than just rebadged Honda. Though they may share the same chassis and some components, a lot of active and passive safety features along with luxury features and technologies are not found on any Honda lineup. They are exclusive to Acura fleet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by FakeMaknae (talkcontribs) 17:44, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is not -->Typ932 T·C 17:08, 23 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes This is the same as the split between the Toyota list and the Lexus list (including the rebadging and enhanced equipment level arguments given above). I see no problem with this idea. Naturally, the Acura entries should be shifted from the Honda list to the Acura list. The pictures are helpful for identifying vehicles - otherwise we may as well just delete both lists and rely on the categories.  Stepho  talk  00:12, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No Wikipedia is not an image gallery. Except rare exceptions, gallery lists should be in Wikimedia Commons, and most car articles are more than suficiently illustrated for identification purposes. Acura cars, both past and new, are very few, making the splitting of Acura not essential. In any case, there's already a WP:FORK of this list named as List of Acura vehicles. If consensus against (or no consensus) for a separated list is the end result of the discussion, it should be made a redirect to this article. If a consensus for is achieved, it should be fixed and completed. --Urbanoc (talk) 00:37, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, never mind, there seems to a consensus for already: If I count correctly, there are three oppose !votes (Johannes Maximilian, Typ932 and me) and five support (Vossanova, Sable232, SteveCof00, FakeMaknae and Stepho-wrs). And the discussion seems to have lasted several months already. As this an informal request, I think numeric majority suffices as we won't get an uninvolved party to close it and the for !votes are experienced editors. I nevertheless recomnend to open a RfC if this isssue arises again. --Urbanoc (talk) 01:45, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
So, how things work here? last I checked, the draft page in context has been zapped without even a trace of history left. Is it possible to resurrect it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by FakeMaknae (talkcontribs)
FakeMaknae yes, it can be retrieved as it was deleted as a G7, you just need to go to WP:REFUND and ask there (better if the author of the draft himself/herself does it, as he/she's the one that requested deletion). However, as I commented in WP Auto before someone informed me of this discussion (and here), there's already a List of Acura vehicles created by Ee2mba. You may either complete the list as created or convert it to the style of the deleted draft. There are model list here and in Acura to help the task. You may ask the supporting !voters of they preferred layout. --Urbanoc (talk) 12:09, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, thanks sorry for not signing FakeMaknae (talk) 16:11, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted back the article as the Acura list was draftified again. --Urbanoc (talk) 02:38, 6 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Urbanoc are you striking your vote? By the way, consensus is not established by majority vote. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 22:19, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
AngusWOOF, a majority of well-established editors think the lists should be split. I didn't change my opinion, but I don't have such a strong position to say my view is necessarly correct. I know consensus is not majority but, at the same time, editors in the minority should not force their way into articles without a good reason, and I participated in a lot of these back and forth "debates" where nobody listens anybody and nothing gets resolved. No-one of the discussion participants is qualified to close the debate based on the !vote arguments because he/she already made clear his/her position. If you feel so strongly about it, I recommed you to open a proper RfC and get an uninvolved opinion to close the debate and determine a policy-based consensus. And please, publicise it properly. --Urbanoc (talk) 00:27, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The draft was submitted to AFC again, but it looks more like a gallery of vehicles. Please review and determine whether the list should be approved. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 22:21, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It should be approved because most luxury Marques have their own lists this article is needed. With most luxury Marques like List of Cadillac vehicles , List of Lexus vehicles, and List of Lincoln vehicles having their own article Acura needs one.Not a section in the Honda article.— Ee2mba —Preceding undated comment added 00:51, 21 June 2019 (UTC) I don't know if that that I will say is correct, but my opinion is Yes. The reality is that Acura shares very much things with it's parent, Honda (shares platforms and other, even a model, the NSX), but, many others are of it's own (dealerships and some technical things). It shares much more elements from it's parent company (unlike the corresponding Infiniti and Lexus), but, as and independent make, I think it deserves it's own list (There are similar lists of other brands that they were never launched by their company!)
