DSA locals[edit]

User:Lima Bean Farmer has twice removed sourced content re: the endorsement of Hawkins by the Colorado Springs and Salt Lake City locals of DSA. I've restored the content both times but, in the interest of avoiding an edit war, I want to discuss it here.--User:Namiba 15:54, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The current reference for that endorsement is a tweet by Howie Hawkins. According to WP:ENDORSE, Lists of endorsements should only include endorsements which have been covered by reliable sources, which may include the organization's own website or official social media accounts. My point was that, according to WP:ENDORSE, the website or official social media account of the organization providing the endorsement would be considered a reliable source, not the social media account of the person being endorsed. The guideline also says lists should only include notable organizations: the endorser must have an article or be unquestionably entitled to one. CowHouse (talk) 14:54, 5 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A quick search reveals Salt Lake DSA's endorsement and the endorsement of Central Illinois DSA. I am sure Colorado Springs publicized it as well. While the local itself is not independently notable, DSA certainly is.--User:Namiba 16:09, 5 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There is currently no consensus on whether these local political parties that do not have Wikipedia pages should be listed. There are thousands of democratic and republican parties across the country that are not added for Biden or trump I’d they do not have pages. I would be fine with adding them if there is consensus for this, but currently there is not. Per wikipedia:ONUS, it will be removed. I should add that the policy says that an organization’s official social media page can make an endorsement. Not the social media of the candidate announcing the endorsement. In general, information on individuals’ social media accounts is deemed unreliable. Proposed merge[edit]

A separate article about endorsements of a third-party candidate seems excessive. While all of these individuals have articles (thus a presumption of notability), this material would find a better home & a more visible one as a section in Howie Hawkins 2020 presidential campaign. -- llywrch (talk) 03:01, 17 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Separate articles for endorsements of third-party candidates already exist. This list of endorsements has been growing and therefore can be anticipated to continue to grow, as many endorsements from notable individuals and publications still remain undetermined. Many of course are made in October, immediately prior to the election. It is worth mentioning that it appears there have been no serious issues with vandalism on this page.
