Many of these names are not "exonyms". Many cities in Istria and Dalmatia had a consistent Italian-speaking (or rather, Venetian-speaking) population; in some places the Italian component was prevalent, but in any case the population used to be ethnically mixed in many areas, especially along the cost. So several of the Italian names in the list cannot really be considered "exonyms", but they should really be seen as autoctonous names. Actually, all of these names are exonyms now, but many of them were indeed not exonyms at some point. Should be noted in the intro. GregorB (talk) 12:53, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Placename Order[edit]

Listed places begin with current name, followed by its traditional Italian name(s), except for place names of Lastovo, Pag, and Pasman, which mostly begin with, and are in order by, the Italian demonym. ChgoJohn (talk) 08:29, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
