Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on January 20, 2010.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that Mickey Cochrane is the only catcher in Major League Baseball history with at least 3,000 plate appearances and a career .400 on-base percentage?

Note for future reference[edit]

A right-handed batter is at the plate, looking toward the pitcher's mound. Wearing a red uniform and white pants, there is a crowd behind him with jerseys of various colors.
Albert Pujols is second among active players in on-base percentage to Joey Votto.
A man in a red baseball cap with a white C on it and a red baseball jersey holds a black baseball glove (worn on his left hand) in front of his chest.
Joey Votto is the active MLB leader in on-base percentage.

Partially a note to myself, partially a note to others, the non-HoF eligible players are:

  • 1. Obviously anyone not retired long enough.
  • 2. Joe Jackson. Too bad, but permanently ineligible unless the rule is changed for Pete Rose.
  • 3. George Selkirk, Jake Stenzel, and Bill Lange. Those 3 didn't get to 10 championship seasons, a HoF requirement.

As such the count is 43 HoF eligible, 27/43 in the Hall (poor Edgar, should be 28). Staxringold talkcontribs 05:20, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Also for future reference I've left the Pujols image to the right for easy replacement when he passes Helton or Helton retires. Staxringold talkcontribs 19:17, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

DYK note for future generations[edit]

The DYK ran prior to the 2010 season, and Joe Mauer had not yet reached 3000 PA at that point. Staxringold talkcontribs 17:21, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
