Unattached vs Previous Club name

[edit]

Shouldn't the "Moving from" column simply show the player's previous club? If a player was "Unattached" before moving then that would be refelcted as a free transfer or free agent two columns over. By definition, to sign as a free agent you have to be unattatched or nearing the end of an existing contract. It seems a bit redundant to me to list unattached and free in seperate columns. If a player wasn't with another club when singed by a new team, then it's "Unattached". – Michael (talk) 01:12, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I realize that. That's my point: it's the same as being a free agent. It's a bit redundant to list each term in seperate columns. JohnnyPolo24 (talk) 11:45, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that's it's kinda redundant, but that's how it's listed these days. – Michael (talk) 02:27, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Transfers

[edit]

If you guys put transfers down and it's not reported on the Transfer List, make sure you find prof and add a reference because you don't or there are references that say the deal is pending or there are no references at all, the transfer will be removed from the list, so I'm just giving you guys a heads up because we just had that mistake earlier but I corrected it so it's all good. – Michael (talk) 16:11, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

MLS Transfer deadline

[edit]

The MLS Transfer deadline's today right, or is it later? – Michael (talk) 20:04, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Transfers vs Trades

[edit]

I took a quick scan through the list and only noticed a couple of actual transfers. The rest were trades. MLS really doesn't do any type of transfers and generally doesn't buy players unless they are out of contract. So, shouldn't the title of this page/article be changed? "List of *trades* for the 2009 MLS season"--EricPZ (talk) 17:38, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not really, sometimes it'll be confusing about having trades on an MLS transfer page, but this is the only place to put trades and also the general reference has a lot of trades on there. And also if players are out of contract and sign with a new team, those are refered to as Free transfers. For example Bakary Soumare was still under contract with the Chicago Fire before transfering to Boulogne.– Michael (talk) 20:50, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
