[edit]

This article is misleadingly titled: if a list of NZ national rugby union players then it should include Black Ferns. It is, more accurately, a list of All Blacks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.237.191.89 (talk) 09:51, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No more so than all equivalent lists for other countries noq (talk) 10:53, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Which suggests that this, and equivalent lists for other countries, should be amended appropriately. In this case, 'List of All Blacks' would suffice. For countries such as England, in respect of which the senior men's team is known only as 'England', the appropriate title might be 'List of England senior men's representative rugby union (fifteen a side) players'. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.237.191.89 (talk) 12:02, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sortname template

[edit]

The list should use the sortname template for the names. Currently, the list is sorted by first name, which is hardly helpful. I'll edit a couple of entries as an example, so that you see what I mean. Schwede66 17:33, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

#335

[edit]
"P. Ward" from the 1928 All Blacks Souvenir Book

I've just set up a Wikidata entry for this player and cropped his image from the 1928 All Blacks Souvenir Book. His full name is Edward Percival Ward and he is shown in this list with Edward Ward (rugby union) as a red link. Wondering why he is shown as "P. Ward" in the image caption, I had a look on PapersPast and it seems his common name is Pat Ward. In this search, you get two different gents with this name: our All Black is one and the other is a son of Joseph Ward with the full name of Awarua Patrick Ward. Anybody know why the red link is the way it is? Shall we change it? Schwede66 23:28, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

#338

[edit]

The red link for #338 says David Lindsay (rugby union) but this article in The Timaru Herald suggests that his common name is Dave Lindsay. As it's not my core area of expertise (or interest), I thought I'd ask rather than just go ahead and change it. Schwede66 23:43, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Secondary school column

[edit]

ClashNZL, what makes you believe that a column for secondary school is needed or desirable? Schwede66 04:07, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Schwede66 and ClashNZL: -- yes I have to agree. This doesn't seem notable than me, and that's not even considering that many of them probably attended more than one school. I will consider boldly removing it, as I can't think of a reasonable justification for it. -- Shuddetalk 19:39, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Shudde, Schwede66, and ClashNZL: I agree too. Be bold! Paora (talk) 21:00, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have gone ahead and removed it. -- Shuddetalk 19:22, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, that spoils my intention to expand this page with further columns/info. I will leave you to it then ToddyOC (talk) 16:38, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
