What is a Salopian? -Ladybirdintheuk 10:11, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

See Shrewsbury School

List inclusion

[edit]

Proof of attending the school must be provided, and the notability asserrted. Having been a pupil at the school is not alone a criteria notability . Please remember that when adding new names they must:

  • either have Wiki pages that reference a verifiable source that they actually studied at Schrewsbury,

or

  • that a new entry includes such a source.

If no references are found for the redlinks, and if no objections are made, they will be deleted. What about Old sSlopians born after 1940?

I'm not sure why there is this date of birth requirement. I'm going to remove it. Obviously more recent Old Salopians (those who are still alive) need to demonstrate their (enduring) notability perhaps more. David (talk) 10:38, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Good.--Kudpung (talk) 14:43, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
My person opinion is that the dates add value to this list as its such an old school and alumni sitting alongside one another in the list can have lived many centuries apart. These dates could eventually faciliate a reorganisation of the list into sub-lists by century (on one page or separate pages). Look at the lists of Old Etonians for example.--Abacchus1974 (talk) 20:50, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

REMINDER

[edit]

See List Inclusion above. Please note that this is not a general list of all or any alumni. Whether the former pupils have become historians, antiquarians, psychiatrists, etc, or even got a knighthood, does not automatically assert notability, nor is it proof that they attended the school. The critera for inclusion in this list must be fulfilled, just as they must be for List of Old Malvernians for example. --Kudpung (talk) 05:53, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There are still lots of red linked pages which need checking for notability ...and that the respective person actually went to the school. If the answer is no to either of these criteria, the entry should be deleted. A long list of obscure red names makes not for an endearing read for the general public! Contributions from Old Salopians would be appreciated.--Abacchus1974 (talk) 20:25, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
