Impression of this list

This list gives the impression that the later in old west period, the more shoot outs happened. I think that´s not true. There may be people who know better about the old west but I think most shoot outs happened in the 1870s before the west became "too" civilized. It just seems that the later in time period, the more documentation of gunfights was common. This list also doesn´t mention some of Wild Bill Hickocks other shoot outs like against the Mc Clanles in ´61 or his last one in Abilene in ´71. He also shot two cavalry soliders in Hays. More Gunfights?[edit]

It is not clear what filter is used to make this list, but I have some possible additions.

Jonathan R. Davis acting alone killed 11 murderous thieves 19 Dec 1854 in California gold country.

James-Younger Gang raid on First National Bank, Northfield MN, 07 Sep 1876. Two bandits and two citizens killed in town, one other bandit killed and two captured in subsequent manhunt.

Hot Springs Shootout. Feud between corrupt law enforcement factions, 16 Mar 1899, five killed and two wounded. Fred4570 (talk) 22:18, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
