Summarys[edit]

I am currently re-writing the page summarys, starting with the latest episodes and making my way to the pilot. This is because i dont want the pages to be lost to copyright. #

The following is an episode review discussion that is intended to evaluate articles for individual episodes. See WP:TV-REVIEW and WP:EPISODE for more info.

Per WP:EPISODE, not every episode of a TV show should likely have an individual article. This can be for many reasons, such as notability or sources, or even just what format fits best for that show.

nb: rather than list the episodes here, please see the main page. Please note that there may be other episodes that, for whatever reasons, are not linked from that page.

All of the episode articles for One Tree Hill do not meet the guidelines and should be redirected to List of One Tree Hill episodes. If, during the course of this discussion, episodes are identified as meeting guidelines — due to new editing — they will be listed below; other episode articles will be redirected. --Jack Merridew 10:13, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Merge and Redirect all but the Pilot. I think it might be good form to always leave the Pilot, since there is good chance it will be notable. Other than that, nothing notable out the individual episodes. i said 05:43, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Advice to interested editors[edit]

This is a boilerplate bit of advice to editors of television episode articles which have come under Wikipedia:Television episodes/Review.

There is fairly widespread consensus that not all television episodes are sufficiently notable to merit articles of their own in Wikipedia. In the interest of fairness, the Wikipedia:Television episodes/Review process has been established, to determine whether it's possible to establish out-of-universe importance and real-world context for television episode articles. For example, after uncontroversial discussion here, articles on individual episodes of The Simple Life were turned into redirects to List of The Simple Life episodes.

If you're interested in keeping episode articles, the key thing is to find reliable sources discussing individual episodes. Sources which may help establish notability for these episodes include reviews in newspapers, discussion in specialist magazines, and detailed episode guides. (Some of my fellow editors feel that episode guides aren't sufficiently independent of the subject to establish notability, but I disagree, especially for professionally published episode guides.) The key thing for improvement of these articles is to include some real-world content (ratings are a good start) and information beyond plot summaries and cast lists. If there are any books published about this series, see if the production or impact of individual episodes are discussed, and add that information to the episode articles. If someone used sources like these books on a handful of these episode articles, to indicate that the episodes of this series have received sufficient coverage in reliable sources that any episode of the series could have encyclopedic coverage, I'd support leaving the other articles as they are, because the potential would have been demonstrated. I hope that interested editors will take up this challenge, and improve the articles so that they won't be redirected.—Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 21:26, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merger of One Tree Hill episode titles[edit]

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/One Tree Hill episode titles closed as a keep, but I'd rate it more as a no consensus debate. The reason for the AfD request was that One Tree Hill episode titles pretty much duplicates the purpose of this List of episodes, and most participating editors in the AfD agree with that. It was also brought up that the band information might be of interest, and that the band information is already present in the season articles. (I.e. back to square one of the AfD) So, do we want to redirect One Tree Hill episode titles here (i.e. no change to the LoE in itself) or display the band names here (as was doen two weeks ago[1]). I don't care, as long as One Tree Hill episode titles does not remain as a separate article. – sgeureka t•c 16:15, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
