WP:SPS/WP:RS as it relates to fraternities/sororities and their articles

The Fraternities and Sororities WikiProject has had a history of struggling with WP:SPS, WP:RS, and WP:POV, yet all three FA-class lists of members (List of Alpha Phi Alpha brothers, List of Alpha Kappa Alpha sisters, List of Phi Kappa Psi brothers) and all three FA-class articles (Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, and Kappa Kappa Psi) use self-published materials productively and have been elevated to Featured status because they are able to use self-published sources to report matters of fact without introducing POV. These articles also use university webpages as references. Granted, this particular article's reliance on a single source is troubling and can be improved, but it's a bit misleading for an editor to assert that "frat's page and tangential school pages are the only ones asserting notability in association with the frat" as a cause for concern with a list of fraternity members when it is apparently acceptable for such sources to serve as the basis of Featured Lists. Published Wikipedia policy do not hold frat pages to lower standards. When notable members of organizations are self proclaimed assertion of notability by the organization itself, it becomes self serving. Cantaloupe2 (talk) 20:41, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
I didn't say articles under the banner of WikiProject Fraternities and Sororities were held to a lower standard. I said that six articles under the WikiProject's purview passed Featured Content candidacies despite frequent and in some cases heavy reliance on self-published materials. If a member of a fraternity does not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines, they should not be listed on that fraternity's list of members on Wikipedia, if one happens to exist. But if a person meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines, their notability is not sourced from the fraternity itself. Fraternities don't create lists of prominent alumni to assert those people's notability but rather to list members of the organization the have become notable for other reasons. If you really have a concern for your interpretation of Wikipedia's policies, I will look forward to you beginning Featured list reviews for the three Fraternities and Sororities FLs. Added some from the 1920s Baird's

Jim Rash

On his page, there is an information that 'He later attended University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha.'

Would it be possible to confirm the information and eventaully add him to the list ?

He is Oscar-wining wrtier and actor, so quite a noble figure to have here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.222.28.126 (talk) 12:11, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
