It would be nice if these tables indicated the source of the RNA, e.g. is it transcribed from a DNA "RNA-gene", or ?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.142.212.214 (talkcontribs)

Yes, could be useful to add some day. Some, like snoRNA and miRNA, can be found in introns, while riboswitches are in mRNA untranslated regions afaik. Narayanese (talk) 05:59, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]


In "What makes us human?" by Katherine Pollard in May 2009 Scientific American, she states, "The shared HAR1 sequence gives rise to an entirely new type of RNA structure, adding to the six known classes of RNA genes." This page ought to show that list of known classes of RNA.~~Tedtoal~~

She does say that here. However provides no references for the statement. Rfam lists 7 main types of RNA genes, however this list is far from exhaustive. --Paul (talk) 11:14, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
