Fair use rationale for Image:Governor General Union of SA 1931 Flag.png

Image:Governor General Union of SA 1931 Flag.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

List of South African Flags?

? because should it not read National Flags! I miss all the other great South African flags (provinces, cities, etc.)I do not see any references to the inverted union jack on the old RSA flag? Flagman (talk) 08:46, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Inclusion of the old Flags

Couldn't we include pictures of the old flags like the Transvaal's Vierkleur, the Orange Free State's flag, Natal's old flag, and the flag of Stellaland, etc.? Invmog (talk) 17:47, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

I added two of the historic sub flags, but there are many more. Invmog (talk) 18:32, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

Page re-do

Can somebody please completely redo the page to influde all the South African flags, like the flags of the SANDF? Fry1989 eh? 04:55, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

Nice idea, but if we were to include "all the South African flags" we'd run into hundreds - defence force, police, railways police, prisons service, government departments, municipalities, etc, not to mention shipping lines, yacht club burgees, and so on. Perhaps separate articles rather that trying to cram everything into one page? Arthur R (talk) 14:50, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

It is done on the other "list of national flags" pages, and considering most of those flags don't exist on Wikipedia English or Commons, it would hardly flood the page. We should show all the relevant national flags including the SANDF. I wouldn't be opposed to a separate article, but I don't really see the need. Fry1989 eh? 19:53, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
