Proposed merge with Clone Weaponry[edit]

Please see the Clone Weaponry talk page for discussion on the proposed merge. – Mipadi 20:17, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

(The preceeding was moved from Talk:List of Star Wars weapons as this is now the article where Clone weaponry would be merged.) --BinaryTed 14:34, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey I edited the DH-17 blaster pistol to show its use in Star Wars: Empire at War. Even tho the article says the A-280 is standard issue in that game the troopers use smaller pistol sized blasters that look alot like the DH-17. There was already some game information there so I thought it would be ok to ass another place the weapon was seen.

Edit: I have edited the page to show that the Troopers use A-280s in forest maps and the DH-17 in city/desolate maps.

Dark Trooper weapons[edit]

The Arc Caster is not the canonical weapon of the Dark Trooper. They carry plasma rifles with missile launchers in their shoulders or back. The portrayal in Battlefront 2 is severely watered down from canon for a fair unit. A Dark Trooper would be able to defeat heroes without much difficulty if it were true to canon. Also, I'd note that the E-11 is viewable in every original trilogy movie as well as present in any source that contains stormtroopers.

Blue Blaster Bolts[edit]

The blue blaster bolts are not caused by the fact that Clone troopers use tibanna gas. Anyone know why they ARE blue? I heard that it was caused by an EMP pulse carried along the beam designed to make the blasters do extra damage to droids, but I have no source. Anyone have a reason for this?

I wouldn't be surprised - however, there are two reasons this doesn't sound plausible
  1. When the weapons were produced, they weren't specifically designed to kill droids. They were just an army.
  2. We see blue bolts coming out of turbolasers/blaster cannons in the movies (prequels). If they're regular blaster cannons, they're just blue. If they're ion cannons, they're ion cannons and cannot be blasters.
So, the explanation seems to be, they're just blue. Whether the firing mechanism or the gas is different I can't say. Tokakeke 02:09, 21 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The DC-15B is NOT a SW weapon AT ALL. It is made up. The correct name is the DC-15S Carbine. - Majin Revan

As mentioned, the reason that the blaster bolts fired from the clone troopers' DC line of rifles are blue is not because of the gas used, but the blaster mechanism itself. The DC-15 used by troopers and DC-17 used by commandos are ion pulse weapons that fire plasma bolts, opposed to many blasters of later make. --mewarmo990 01:44, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Major organization needed[edit]

This article needs a major overhaul. For example, weapons should not be sorted by faction, but type. A textbook example would be a heading for blasters, with a brief description and link to a larger, more detailed article, and then a list of known weapons in the SW universe that fall under this category. For very specific details and examples, citations would be necessary as well. I can say that I'm pretty well versed in the SW lore, and I've also recently come across a nice volume that explains and describes LOTS of weapons and tech in SW. If I have time, I can contribute, but the main issue at hand is reorganizing this article into something other than an unprofessional, incoherent mess. Come on, people, Star Wars is a huge part of popular culture, and it deserves better than this. I also said something very similar on the discussion page for the main list of weapons. --mewarmo990 01:50, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

I have used my book to add some much-needed information to this article. Also, if a full and complete list of weapons were to be compiled, it would be too long for headers and a ToC. Links to a main article would be fine. I would appreciate if people would join me in giving the entire Star Wars Weapons section a sorely needed renovation. --Mewarmo990 02:47, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

E-11 and generic "blaster carbine"[edit]

In Michael Stackpole's X-Wing series, there are many references made to a blaster carbine-apparently the standard weapon of the stortroopers, or at least army troops. It isn't the same as the E-11: in Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, a conversation is overheard between two stormtroopers, one arguing that the carbine is more accurate because of the way it absorbs kickback.

Split Sections[edit]

I think that we should split the wepons atleast into towo articles because this one is to big. One could be for the original trilogy and one for the prequals. --Team6and7 17:41, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I did this and it was merged back into one. /shrug. Wooty 01:36, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No CIS?[edit]

Why isn't there a Trade Federation/CIS section in this article? bibliomaniac15 23:04, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Because nobody's got to it yet :). I'll start on it. In the meantime, why did you remove the DC-15S image? Wooty 01:36, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I put it in the edit summary: it's too dark, and you can't really see if it's the right weapon. bibliomaniac15 01:50, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's not very dark on either my laptop or desktop screens, and I can see the weapon clearly. Not only this, but the Visual Dictionary has confirmed the weapon in the pic is a DC-15S (boy do I hate that term, DC-15S should be the RC pistol only!). Wooty 07:05, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That pictures too dark I thought I took it out.--Team6and7 19:29, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you can find a lighter picture, then put it in. bibliomaniac15 21:28, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm bored and have too much time. I'll start on the CIS weaponry... lol. Hole in the wall 12:30, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

bowcaster[edit]

It says that the fact it fires laser bolts is a misconception http://www.starwars.com/databank/technology/bowcaster/index.html George Lucas begs to differ. There actually seems to be different versions of the bowcaster, if you read the article properly.

Fiction[edit]

Although it is mentioned in the first line that Star Wars is fictional, you wouldn't think so reading the rest of the article! With the exception of mentioning that a Sterling SMG was used as the basis of one of the weapons, the rest of the article reads as if the described technologies and performanbce characteritics are genuine. Is this really appropriate for wiki? Epeeist smudge 11:10, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's not appropriate; a general article on technology, with subarticles as appropriate, would be a much better practice than this list of weapons. Most of this needs to be transwikied to Wookieepedia and Wikibooks and redirected to preserve edit history. — Deckiller 06:12, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The external link at the bottom of the article also seems to be unnecessary. It relates to a "study and quantitative assessment" of turbolasers. However, this is not a Lucasfilm website, but is a personal website (which I also find slightly disturbing) and the analysis is based on speculative, outdated, or subjective information and belong on a fan wiki instead. If no one objects, I will remove the link.71.103.203.135 03:35, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Clonewars trooper 800.jpg[edit]

Image:Clonewars trooper 800.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 18:13, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Slaver Blade[edit]

The slaver blade description, the very last entry on this page, is pretty dumb. "This is the other weapon of the Trandoshan Slaver, and it is deadly effective at close range. If a Trandoshan Slaver ever gets to use this in a fight, he will win." First off, it provides absolutely no information. And I highly doubt that there's any canonical Star Wars database that includes the entry "You will die if a mother pulls this on you." It sounds like something out of a poorly-made instruction manual for a video game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.142.130.18 (talk) 19:49, August 30, 2007 (UTC)
