Marj As Sultan[edit]

Is there actually an air base at Marj As Sultan? I don't see anything in the satellite view at those coordinates, and this link [1] suggests that there's just an early-warning station. David (talk) 11:59, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ditto for Qabr as Sitt — I don't see anything in the satellite view. David (talk) 12:04, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, they exist and they are heliports. Marj As Sultan has 2 locations; north and south. You have to zoom in to see.MakiSumo34 (talk) 21:34, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Tifor[edit]

Is there a Tifor airbase? (russian: аэродром Тйфор) an [2] ; Tifor - comes from english T4 (T four) - it is 90 km from Homs and 100 km from Palmyra --Bin im Garten (talk) 19:55, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Merge the article[edit]

This article largely contains the same info as List of airports in Syria, so it could easily be merged. We could argue that it's useful to make a distinction between normal airports and air force bases. I don't think it is, while all public airports in Syria are also used as military airports. It's an undisputed fact, visible for everyone by simply looking at the various military-style hardened aircraft shelters at these "civilian" airports.MakiSumo34 (talk) 21:40, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Merge. Absolutely. As of now, the 2 articles are duplicate of one another. Since there are only six civil airports, it doesn't make sense to have a separate list for them. Tradedia (talk) 21:23, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Merge. The new table needs referencing though. Gavbadger (talk) 17:04, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Merge, though a title change to List of airports and airbases in Syria might be good as well. ~~ Lothar von Richthofen (talk) 20:51, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. If there is a category called "Military airbases" containing different countries military airbases, I dont know why we should delete the Syrian one. I agree that one should contain the military airbases and the other the civilian airports. Public airports are also used as military airports not only in Syria, but in several countries of the world (if not all), depending on the circumstances, so that's not a reason.--HCPUNXKID (talk) 15:06, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
