Categorisation

[edit]

I've put this episode list in the "drama" episode lists category, but I can see a case for putting it in "dramedy" (horrible word though that is). —Whouk (talk) 08:34, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Redirects

[edit]

I've noticed that all the former articles on Avenger's episodes were redirected to this page, with only the note "Redirect per WP:EPISODE." Yet many television shows have a page for each and every episode, and the mass redirect seems to have been done without any discussion that I can find.

Either the episode pages should be reinstated (and probably rewritten) or all the links leading back to this page should be removed. --Starwed 12:48, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Telesnaps

[edit]

I don't know if there is a proper source for it but several of the missing episodes for the first season did have telesnaps taken at the time of transmission - the same thing occurred with some of the missing Dr Who stories. They were included in a booklet that accompanied the DVD release of the remastered seasons 1 and 2. Then with the 50th anniversary DVD complete set they were added as DVD extras where a narration was added to describe the action they represented. They are brief - between 5 and 10 minutes usually - thus they aren't recreating the whole story (which was done with episode 4 of the DR Who story The Tenth Planet) just giving an idea of what the episode was like. As I say I don't know if any of this can be added to the main article. I mention it so that if other editors can find a way to fit it in. MarnetteD | Talk 04:08, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Clarify

[edit]

Article says "The first four seasons were in black-and-white; the first three were shot on videotape".

If some of the early ones went out live, did they use videoTAPE at all, or rather, were they shot on (live, unrecorded) video? 82.44.39.236 (talk) 12:54, 28 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • TV was black and white only, transmission and reception, in 1960. live shows were transmitted via the mixing desk from the images fed to them from the tv cameras (and film inserts via telecine machines) and sound via microphones in the studio (and music and effects via gramophone records) this electronic signal was broadcast via transmitter stations to the tv set, i.e. live (not recorded) as is it is happening, that would have been how live episodes were transmitted, unless they were in fact recorded on VT.86.11.32.155 (talk) 21:03, 15 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

First Season Episode Newly Available?

[edit]

I just finished watching an episode of the Avengers from the first season, aired on one of our local channels. I did not catch the title of the episode, but it was definitely not one of those two mentioned as not missing. The plot involved the clandestine redirection of airplanes over Ireland and the theft of currency from a crashed plane. There was a convent where the mother superior had been replaced by a member of the conspiracy. Anyway, if anyone knows which episode this was, it clearly is no longer missing.Tmangray (talk) 21:16, 13 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that episode would actually be "Dead on Course" (series 2, episode 14) so not a new discovery. 80.229.8.213 (talk) 21:25, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Season 2 intro

[edit]

The season 2 intro with Honor Blackman has the two moles on the wrong side of her face.2601:8:AB80:AA6:B808:CFE3:E796:9104 (talk) 18:24, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

US terminology

[edit]

Is there any reason we shouldn't revert the article to using "series" rather than "season"? It's a UK programme, not a US one. The US terminology is not what most viewers would use and is inconsistent with the main article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Avengers_(TV_series) and with other episode guides (e.g. http://www.dissolute.com.au/the-avengers-tv-series/episodes/) (talk) 10:35, 28 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Girl from AUNTIE

[edit]

This one just links-back to the listing. Valetude (talk) 19:42, 19 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Gibberish

[edit]

A user called Jim Henderson has added what can only be a load of crap to series 6's episodes. For example:

  • Is everyone lying to me? Buttering up Tara
  • Steed takes up with another woman, umm, Lady
  • Mother's aunties, atwitter over tale of robbery illustrated by clips
  • Steed's friends suffer breezy home invasion and arterial bombs

None of this makes any sense whatsoever. WTF is going on?? Another A Carty has just been going at it every day for weeks and they haven't even bothered to change anything?? 86.182.40.221 (talk) 12:28, 10 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously an inept effort to add somekind of synopsis to the story titles, someone should either delete or write better ones!!!86.5.134.132 (talk) 23:26, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like someone was trying to emulate the style of the pithy "Steed does this, Emma does that" blurbs used on the first colour season. 136.159.160.121 (talk) 16:46, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

– These are both episode lists for related "The Avengers" content, one for the TV series and one for the radio series. Per WP:NCTV#List articles the disambiguation should be added to TV series article. The radio series article should follow the style used for disambiguation of radio series which is "(radio series)". Live or taped?

[edit]

The list indicates the first season had live episodes but then indicates they were taped. Which was it? Also, I don't believe any episodes went out fully live but were more "as live" and that included some of the early Blackman episodes too, meaning they couldn't do retakes which is why surviving 2nd series episodes often include dialog flubs and technical mistakes (like the time a camera hit a piece of scenery during a quiet scene making it look and sound as if a bomb had detonated nearby!) 136.159.160.121 (talk) 16:49, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
