List title[edit]

The title is already ridiculously long and there do not appear to be movements in other countries to repeal anti-discrimination laws through ballot initiative. Otto4711 (talk) 17:24, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've never seen the "title is too long" argument before and I'm not sure that I can counter it usefully; another two characters in the title doesn't seem to add to any unwieldiness, IMHO. I note that LGBT rights by country or territory is so complex that I suggest it would be worthwhile being as specific here as possible; it's hard to say what the non-US equivalent of "ballot initiative" is so as to make inter-country comparisons useful. And it has been remarked in a number of different Wikipedian contexts that it is worth working to overcome the general impression that Wikipedia is US-centric. What about ballot initiatives to establish LGBT rights?[edit]

Why does this list only (by title) apply to repealing anti-discrimination, a double-negative to boot? Is there another list for enacting anti-discrimination? It ignores the historic votes in Boulder (1987), Maine (2012), etc.★NealMcB★ (talk) 17:42, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The 1978 Boulder vote is mentioned in the entry for Boulder's repeal vote. There are lists that cover ballot initiatives as they relate to marriage equality. One such list is linked in this article, rather clumsily IMHO. Buck Winston (talk) 19:49, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]


Expand on different propositions[edit]

I want to add an article on Idaho's Proposition One. It would be helpful for anyone researching these propositions and LGBT rights to have information on the different movements and tactics used in the different states whether in support or opposition to the initiatives.

Splitting by state and local levels[edit]

It is not useful to break out the initiatives at the state and local levels. These repeal initiatives developed in waves over time so a chronological presentation of them is the best and most effective way to present the information. It does not aid reader understanding of the subject to confusingly break the subject up, especially since the accompanying text does not reflect it.
