Linking style in table

[edit]

I realize this is a featured list, and maybe there's some standard elsewhere that can be referred to... but... the current links seem a violation of WP:EASTEREGG. Yes, there's a footnote explaining that the date links are secretly "the specific awards ceremony" links, but the average reader doesn't read footnotes. A casual reader would assume that the linked dates are just that - links to articles about that specific date. It seems like it'd be much more intuitive if the "Award" column was used instead for this link - it's probably what people actually want anyway. The link to 84th Academy Awards is the useful one; people want to see what Moneyball was competing against that year, not have the concept of the Oscars explained to them from the ground-up. In the unusual case they do want the base article on the Academy Awards, it's prominently linked from the 84th article, so they'll still get to it anyway. So my suggestion would be to replace the links in the "Award" section with the specific ceremony when available, and leave the dates unlinked. Any thoughts?
