Please see the talk page at Talk:List of Acts of Parliament of the United Kingdom Parliament, 1801-1819 for current discussion of possible changes to the lists for both British and English legislation. Silverhelm 09:18, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Charles and James[edit]

The names Charles and James are abbreviated "Car." and "Jac." respectively, for their Latin forms "Caroli" and "Jacobi". "Cha.", "Chas." and "Ja." are not in the citations given here. Note also that "William & Mary" is abbreviated either as "W. & M." (in tables, where space is at a premium) or "Gul. & Mar." (in headers) in Statutes of the Realm. That is an extremely outdated form of citation that is no longer used. Modern publications use Cha. and Ja. Theknightwho (talk) 12:32, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Hairy Dude I have updated the reference to a modern edition of the Chronological Tables using my own hard copy, for the sake of providing a reference for the modern form of citation. This isn't available online, however. Is there a generally accepted format for linking to an older edition, when the cited edition is not available? It would be a shame to lose that Google Books link. Theknightwho (talk) 16:32, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Theknightwho Thanks for the information. There's no form for citing multiple editions that I know of, but there's nothing really stopping you from just citing them both, since they're both acceptable. (Maybe add a hidden comment explaining why.) Hairy Dude (talk) 02:55, 6 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
