Louis, duc d'Aumont[edit]

The entry beginning "1712–1712" currently lists Louis, duc d'Aumont as "Minister Plenipotentiary". However, according to several sources he was a fully-fledged ambassador in 1713. For example:

(2) From the dedication of Lucio Cornelio Silla, a 1713 opera by G.F. Handel: "Consecrata all'Alta Eccellenza di Lodovico d'Aumont, Duca d'Aumont & c., Pari di Francia, Comandante delli Ordini del Re, Primo Gentilhuomo della Camera di S.M.Christianissima, Governatore del Paese di Bologna, &c, & c, ed Ambasciatore Straordinario presso S.M. La Regina, della Gran Bretagna a Londra 1713 ...". ^[2]

(3) An academic book on Handel states: "Louis d'Aumont de Rochebaron, Duc d'Aumont (1666–1723), had been appointed French Ambassador to Great Britain when diplomatic relations between Britain and France resumed with the ending of the war. He had been in London since 2 January [1713], but his formal reception reception was deferred until the beginning of July. Rossi's dated dedication clearly implies an intended performance on 2 June; there is no record of such an event, though D'Aumont's asctivities in London duering this period were widely reported. ... On 2 June The Daily Courant advertised a benefit performance ... for the following day with the heading 'For the Entertainment of his Excellency Monsieur the Duke d'Aumont, Ambassador extraordinary from France'". ^[3]

I therefore submit that the entry for Louis be amended to reflect his appointment as Ambassador, not Minister Plenipotentiary.
