2007 World Music Awards[edit]

In the article it states that she won all her awards, but in fact she only won two out of the three nominations. She did not win World's Best-Selling R&B Female Artist, that was Ciara.--92.11.197.74 (talk) 15:40, 3 November 2010 (UTC)Um actually she did win best selling female artist look it up on YouTube there is a video proving this & Lol who you trying to kid ? Grammy Awards[edit]

People keep messing up the Grammy Awards section. They don't understand the rules for nominations so they keep screwing up the section. For example, someone said that Rihanna was nominated for Best Rap Song for "Love the Way You Lie." This is incorrect because this is a songwriter's award and Rihanna did not write this song. Rihanna DID win this award in 2010 for "Run This Town" because she was a co-writer of the song. Also, Rihanna is nominated for Album of the Year as a featured artist on Eminem's album Recovery. This is a real nomination and must be respected. A similar example of this would be Colbie Caillat winning Album of the Year in 2010 for Fearless, Taylor Swift's album, because Caillat was a featured artist. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.157.80.166 (talk) 18:51, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you on the songwriting. However, featured artists are rarely credited with an Album of the Year nomination. Colbie was credited and did win according to Grammy.com. But that is highly unusual. For example, Santana's "Supernatural" won Album of the Year in 2000. Rob Thomas and Everlast would have won the award also if they always credited featured artists. This also goes for Outkast's win would have been shared with Jay-Z. The Grammy's only credit who the studio decides to credit. Colbie may just be really good friends with Taylor. It's like MC Hammer giving lyric credit to Rick James for U Can't Touch This. James didn't write the lyrics but Hammer was being nice and they shared the Grammy for it. The same goes for producers. An album can have many producers but sometimes only one main producer will receive the award. Since Rihanna didn't even write on "Recovery" she was not nominated. Here is a link to my Santana and Outkast reference. http://www.grammy.com/nominees/search?artist=outkast&field_nominee_work_value=&year=All&genre=All http://www.grammy.com/nominees/search?artist=&field_nominee_work_value=supernatural&year=All&genre=All Xffactor (talk) 22:33, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Billboard Awards[edit]

The Billboard MUSIC Awards and Billboard YEAR-END-CHARTS are two different things. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kendallamc2 (talkcontribs) 23:58, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning the Billboard Awards, the list says that Rihanna scored 22 gongs so far. But when i counted them, i got 11 winnings. What's happening over there? -- [User:Ririhfan|Ririhfan] ([User talk:Ririhfan|talk]) 23:58, 18 August 2013 (UTC)

Grammy Award count[edit]

User:Tomica believes that Rihanna's Grammy count should be listed as 7 awards and 21 nominations due to a comment made during the 55th Grammy Awards broadcast despite the Grammy archives only showing Rihanna as having won 6: 1 2 (Her 2013 win for the "We Found Love" music video has not yet been added but can currently be found here.) Here, I added references for the 20 nominations and 6 awards Rihanna is known to have won, while here, Tomica added a 2012 win in the Best Rap Song category. (Best Rap Song is a songwriter's award and The Recording Academy does not recognize her as a recipient.)

I'd like to get some other users' opinions on this. –Chase (talk / contribs) 00:07, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Before this discussion goes any further, I've just noticed that a 21st nomination (that Rihanna did not win) was indeed missing: her 2011 Album of the Year nomination for Eminem's Recovery. I will correct this, but I just wanted to make note so that there's no confusion. –Chase (talk / contribs) 00:13, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This article has long ongoing edit wars about this, I find the Grammy section is constantly changed and have to fix it. Basically, the confusion has arisen from Best Rap Song being a songwriters award. Rihanna was not an actual recipient of that win despite being featured on the song. Therefore it should say 6 (both here and on the Rihanna intro). Except, lots of publications have incorrectly labelled her as the recipient of one too many (including even Billboard). Ironically this might be because they simply used wikipedia as their source - which for the most part of last year was wrong too. Anyway, the sources are conflicting so I don't know how this gets resolved. But in a general understanding of the awards, it's simple -- 333cale (talk) 04:57, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Really? Even LL Cool J who hosted the 2013 Grammy Awards prior Rihanna's performance said that "earlier tonight she who her 7th Grammy Award". Isn't he part of the Grammy organization team? Wouldn't he said sixth if the she won her sixth. She has 7 Grammy Awards and that's a fact! A billion publications cite that and of course that's not incorrect. — Tomíca(T2ME) 09:17, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore she herself even said that she won two Grammys in 2012. Like it is said in Tomica's source of Capital FM (Here). And why should she lie about the number of her Grammy wins? What would she have of it? Ilikeriri (talk) 15:18, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well she has said conflicting things. Last year she tweeted about winning 2, but then in March 2012, she corrected it to 5 wins (instead of 6). There's a video of that interview here (at 1:00). And Chase is right- Best Rap Song is definitely a songwriters award, their official website/past winners archive sources that. LL Cool J announcing 7 is basically unexplainable, though. And there are sources backing up that extra one. I'm not sure what's appropriate state in the article- 333cale (talk) 22:23, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
My proposal is to add 7 in the article and also add note that the sources vary and that the award for Best Rap Song is provided by the Grammy association only for authors, however, a lot of sources cite it as her award too. — Tomíca(T2ME) 23:29, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure why we would say that she has 7 wins just because a few sources incorrectly say this when the organization who hands out the awards clearly show in their archives that she has only won 6. –Chase (talk / contribs) 02:28, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Should I continue again myself and again and again. Read above about the LL Cool J. And that 'incorrectly' is according to you actually. — Tomíca(T2ME) 09:08, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Why should one passing comment made by LL Cool J override the fact that the Grammys' official archives show no seventh Grammy that Rihanna has won? –Chase (talk / contribs) 16:28, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You would have to find sources that explicitly stated that Rihanna won the 2012 Best Rap Song Grammy (your sources only claim, albeit incorrectly, that she is a 7-time Grammy winner) for such a note to be added. (ignore) But really, a note like that would be irrelevant since the fact of the matter is that the Grammys do not recognize her as a recipient of that award. We don't have the Song of the Year nominations for "Love the Way You Lie" or "Umbrella", or the Best Rap Song nomination for "Love the Way You Lie" listed on this page for the exact same reason we shouldn't have the Best Rap Song win for "All of the Lights" listed here – because those are songwriting awards, and Rihanna did not write those songs. The winners in that category that year were Jeff Bhasker, Stacy Ferguson, Malik Jones, Warren Trotter, and Kanye West. –Chase (talk / contribs) 16:35, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I would say that the official Grammy website would have the correct answer. The 2013 awards have not been added yet but they list her as winning 5 times, and that's a fact. Rihanna was on the Red Carpet when those awards were given out so maybe she got the wrong info. The same thing happened with Kelly Rowland. There's video of the Song of the Year category on Youtube and she is not listed as a nominee. Also, as I stated early she was not nominated for Album of the Year for Recovery. Colbie Caillat was an unusual occurrence. Look at Santana's Supernatural and Outkast's Speakerboxx on Grammy.com. The only winners are the artists and producers/engineers. They can give the award to a featured artist but Colbie is one of the only times that has happened. The Grammy's don't decide who to nominate, the studios do. Another example would be The Roots and Erykah Badu winning for a track in 2000 that had Eve, and Eve was not given an award. Sources to that are on Eve's Wiki page. Xffactor (talk) 14:02, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As of recently, the Grammys have decided to include featured artists as part of the nominees for Album of the Year; this has happened with every album recently nominated. Beyoncé was listed as a nominee for Lady Gaga's album in 2011, Nicki Minaj was listed as a nominee for Rihanna's album in 2012, and (most relevant to this discussion) Rihanna was listed as a nominee for Eminem's album in 2011. –Chase (talk / contribs) 16:28, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Regardless of what anyone claims she has won, if she has not been credited by the official organisation then nobody has any business writing otherwise. Till 01:08, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Is it me, or did someone add some cheap text to her winning this award that can't seem to be removed? Xffactor (talk) 18:47, 11 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed this. The text was lost inside the table formatting. I'm not sure, however, if everyone will agree with your addition of the introduction text (attempting to clarify the Best Rap Song confusion, which I rephrased slightly). It appears this talk page discussion never actually reached a concrete decision! 333cale (talk) 02:12, 15 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

ASCAP awards[edit]

ASCAP awards (Pop and Rhythm & Soul) are given to the producers, writers and publishers, not the singer. She's cited as the singer but no the award recipient. Cornerstonepicker (talk) 05:36, 4 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A possible FLC[edit]

I have taken all of the current female pop-stars' awards list to FL lately. Seems like she is the only one left. Would anyone be interested in collaborating with me on what could be a possible FLC. With the length of it, I don't think I can work on it alone. Cheers, FrB.TG (talk) 19:11, 25 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
