Thanks for the catch. I...really have no idea whatsoever how those slipped by... - The Bushranger Return fireFlank speed 13:13, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Other question...

[edit]

The armoureds frigates Numancia (first ironclad in circumnavigate the world) and Vitoria (7,500 t and 7,250 t Displacement; the two ships, was in portmán battle), was modified in 1896-1898, and converted in "battleships".

Takashi Kurita ~ Hablame compañero 08:19, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hm, thanks for pointing those out. I'll have to look them over a bit to see if they should be included (or if they were just called "Battleships"...? ) - The Bushranger Return fireFlank speed 16:13, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm. I think the proper translation of 'acorazado guardacostas' would be 'coast defense battleship', right? They wouldn't qualify for WP:OMT, but should be mentioned here. I'll add them in a bit. Thanks! - The Bushranger Return fireFlank speed 16:18, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yep... coast defense battleship... Takashi Kurita ~ Hablame compañero 19:46, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thought so. Many thanks for the help. Feel free to chip in any additional information or references! :) - The Bushranger Return fireFlank speed 21:39, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Numancia ground and sank in Sesimbra (Portugal) 17 december 1916 when was being traslate from Cádiz to Bilbao for scrap
Takashi Kurita ~ Hablame compañero 05:02, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I saw that, yeah, but the only referenceable statement was that she "survived until 1920" et-cetera. Was she refloated and scrapped? - The Bushranger Return fireFlank speed 13:30, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No; no was refloaded; was partialy scraped insitu. web fragata Numancia; pg 45 - 50 (pt), with wreck photos)

Pelayo

[edit]

Wondering why Pelayo was removed? Most sources I've seen (including Jane's) list her as a battleship. - The Bushranger One ping only 22:52, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pelayo is an ironclad battleship, not a pre-dreadnought, and so doesn't really belong on this list. She belongs in the period of experimentation that characterized the period between the launching of Gloire and, depending on who you ask, the Royal Sovereigns or the Majestics of the 1890s. It would be more appropriate to include her on a List of ironclads of Spain. Parsecboy (talk) 10:05, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Doesn't make much difference to me - do whatever makes things easier. Parsecboy (talk) 18:44, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

GA/FLC

[edit]

Just to note, I'm nominating this list for GA, despite the fact that lists don't generally go to GAN, because it probably doesn't count as enough of a "list" as the regulars at FLC define the term. This is based on previous experience. Parsecboy (talk) 16:31, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

G'day Pb, both this and the aircraft one are coming up as articles needing attention to the banner (lists). I was thinking of adding list=n, that will strictly make them articles as distinct from lists. Thoughts? Peacemaker67 (send... over) 08:41, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review

I'll get to this shortly.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 21:39, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Disambiguate SECN; you might need to spell it out.
  • The gun sizes of the Reina Victoria Eugenia class don't match between the text and the table. And watch for rounding errors.
    • Did they get 13.5 or 13-inch guns? You give both English and metric measurements first which is confusing, although I know why you did it.
      • I "fixed" the wrong template the first time around. Should be correct now.
  • Pics appropriately licensed; no external links.
  • Overlinking on Spanish Navy
  • Standardize location in bibliography.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 18:51, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
As for this, I'd rather not. This is still a list of things, regardless of what some of the regulars at FLC say. I'd also prefer to keep it consistent with the other national lists. Parsecboy (talk) 23:49, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Concur on that - this is part of a "List of Battleships/Battlecruisers of Foo" series; due to the shortness of this one it looks slightly less "list-y" than the others but it is still part of the group and the title needs to remain consistent. - The Bushranger One ping only 00:44, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested move to "Battleships of Spain"

[edit]

I suggest this article (having been identified as not really being a list), be moved to the subject title. As present it is coming up in Category:Military history lists incorrectly assessed as articles. Kirill has suggested move it to avoid confusion. Thoughts? Peacemaker67 (send... over) 13:02, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@Peacemaker67: Since there haven't been any objections, can we go ahead and move the article to the new title? Kirill [talk] 22:58, 7 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Kirill - please see the last few comments in the GA review thread directly above. Parsecboy (talk) 23:23, 7 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Even if it is a part of a series of "List of" it can still be renamed to not have list of in the title. Nergaal (talk) 18:00, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Main Armament Reina Victoria Eugenia

[edit]

Spanish navy was actually interested in 15in guns as Queen Elizabeth class battleships were made public: Before that Reina Victoria Eugenias were probably conceived as scaled-down versions of british Orion and Iron Duke battleships. The british royal navy, however, wanted to keep 15in gun details classified in order to keep it secret from the german intelligence. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.10.96.77 (talk) 13:27, 2 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
