[Untitled][edit]

This list could be expanded to include other incidents, including assassination attempts like the Rangoon incident, but for the time being I've tried to keep it focused on the border area.

Also this could use some NPOVing, if someone can find sources that are less closely linked to the US and ROK. -- Visviva 08:06, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Consolidation/rationalization of Korean conflict pages[edit]

I would like to make a proposal for the consolidation/rationalization of the various pages dealing with the conflict between North and South Korea:

This page List of border incidents involving North Korea is changed to Korean DMZ incidents and all Korean Demilitarized Zone incidents are moved here and consolidated.

All Korean maritime border incidents are moved to the Northern Limit Line page or to a new page of Korean maritime border incidents.

A new page is created of all other non-DMZ and NLL North-South incidents (espionage, submarines, terrorist bombings etc)

All the various specific incident pages e.g Korean DMZ Conflict (1966-1969) would be unchanged.

This would hopefully mean that each incident would be located on only one of the 3 pages (and on their specific page if they have one) and not duplicated across numerous pages. Mztourist (talk) 07:07, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think it would be easier to consolidate all the stuff on to one page. Also keep in mind that this page includes incidents involving Japan and the Untied States. – Zntrip 10:31, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think other authors will go along with that, which is why those other pages exist in the first place. What incidents involving Japan are you referring to? Mztourist (talk) 12:34, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I am referring to the Battle of Amami-Ōshima. By the way, I just found another list at Division of Korea. Anyway, my concern is that there are too many redundant lists and the should be as centralized as possible. This is what I'm thinking:
This page should renamed to include all major post-ceasefire incidents that occurred after the ceasefire.
The incidents from the Korean DMZ Conflict (1966-1969) should not be included, but a link to that article should be provided.
Minor DMZ incidents (like a very brief exchange of shots) should not be included; those should be listed at the DMZ article.
Northern Limit Line incidents should be included here. The list on that article is very short; it could even be its own section in this article, depending on how it is organized.
I'm not too sure how we would include incidents with Japan and the United Stats (like the Pueblo; perhaps there could be a separate section for them?). – Zntrip 23:16, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merge discussion[edit]

Opinions/suggests here on merge of Korean_Demilitarized_Zone#DMZ-related_incidents_and_incursions into this article. 495656778774 (talk) 15:51, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I think there should be one list of border incidents, including maritime incidents. There is already duplication, e.g., the Cheonan sinking. In addition, I would propose a "Korean conflict" page that gives an overview of the conflict from the division of Korea to the present day.--Jack Upland (talk) 08:16, 26 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have now merged the DMZ list here, and have created the Korean conflict page.--Jack Upland (talk) 03:17, 18 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
After a discussion on that page, I have now merged "Korean maritime border incidents" here. Unfortunately, I have done this in a messy way. First, in August, I suggested a merge on that talk page. Then, in November, I checked everything in that article was duplicated here or in the Northern Limit Line article, and made the necessary adjustments. Then I proposed that article for deletion. Being advised against this approach, I then proceeded instead with a formal merger proposal. There being no objections in the past month, I have now performed the merger. I hope I have done it right, and I apologise for all the confusion.--Jack Upland (talk) 08:03, 31 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Jack Upland: Looks good to me. Nice job! – Zntrip 22:40, 31 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV[edit]

"There were some incursions into North Korea".......Some? According to the declassified documents, in 1976, there had been 200. According to the Korean Herald source, in 2011, there had been 221 violations by North Korea since 1953. Those numbers are clearly quite even and the picture is much less one sided than this article presents by claiming that there were only "some" incursions by South Korea.

I've removed the word "some". I hope this helps. It would be good to get more sources about any attacks on North Korea.--Jack Upland (talk) 05:32, 23 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
