Criteria for addition

[edit]

What's the criteria for addition to this list? I removed several from this list that were completed unreferenced - or glorified bus stands (e.g. Crossharbour ASDA). Saying that, several stops that TfL calls "bus stations" - i.e. at Grove Park railway station are just that, a glorified bus stand! Do we only include actual stations with more than X number of routes or Y number of stops? A bus stand/loop is barely a bus station frankly! Would welcome your thoughts so we can gain some consensus moving forward. Turini2 (talk) 10:19, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Potential options -
In the old days a bus station would be a place where several routes terminated, and crews could be changed. They would include toilets and some sort of refreshment room/cafe. There would be separate facilities for passengers and for bus crews. Not all crew change points are bus stations: in Oxford, the stops on High Street that are known as Queen's Lane (J1 to J3 and K1 to K5) are used to change crews, because they're closest to the bus company offices just to the east of K5. Buses may wait there for up to ten minutes, but those eight stops don't constitute a bus station. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 12:27, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I updated the list using the list provided in this report by London TravelWatch--Shortride (talk) 14:12, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see. Yeah - some of those aren't really bus stations at all. Stratford International being a perfect example.
Oof, some of them have very low usage figures - maybe something like "at least 2,000 passengers a day" would cull the smallest/less relevant ones? Turini2 (talk) 14:32, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
In the mean time, I've removed several from the Template:London bus and coach stations list that I don't believe are bus stations. I did this by searching TfL site for stops, removing where its street stops adjacent to station, just 1 stop or its a bus stand. Following that, whether we should reduce the number in the template further/or increase this list - is up to consensus, I guess! Turini2 (talk) 18:24, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
