Versailles was no more the capital of France in the 17th and 18th centuries than The Hague is the capital of the Netherlands today, and probably less so, since lots of actual governmental offices were still in Paris, while the entire Dutch business of government goes on at the Hague. A capital is not the same thing as "the place where the monarch primarily resides." john k (talk) 15:53, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
