[edit]Inspired by a couple of the other excellent castle lists out there, I thought I'd give Gloucestershire a go. A couple of comments at this stage:
- This first draft isn't complete. There are a number of smaller sites and fortified manor houses I haven't been able to add yet. But its a start! I haven't included castles which weren't fortified (e.g. later big houses which just had "castle" in their name).
- When the weather improves a bit I'll fish out the camera and go and take some photos of the sites that currently lack images. But its too cold and snowy right now....
- I've created new articles for castles where appropriate, but I don't think all the sites would be notable on their own. In those instances, I haven't red-linked them.
- I need to tidy up some bits of this, but thought I'd get it out of user-space before Christmas.

- Do you know if Gloucestershire's boundaries were changed in 1974? If not, King's Castellarium Anglicanum has a couple of interesting things to say about groupings of castles in the county. Nev1 (talk) 17:37, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
- I think they did change, but I'll check. I was struggling with the Bristol boundaries before on this. I've some more castles to add to the list, which are lurking in user space at the moment. Hchc2009 (talk) 17:47, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, thinking about it I think Gloucestershire's boundaries have changed; something about it cropped up at Talk:List of hill forts in England. I suppose even if the boundaries changed, something could be added on what King says with a caveat that it applies to pre-1974 counties if you think it's useful. Nev1 (talk) 18:00, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me. Hchc2009 (talk) 18:14, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
