Proposed merge with List of centenarian rabbis[edit]

Partial duplicate, merge to more inclusive and comprehensive list. הסרפד (call me Hasirpad) 01:13, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. IIRC a similar article was speedily deleted as a content fork some years before this one was created. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 03:14, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Also agreed for the same reasons. Canadian Paul 21:04, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well it's been over six months with no objections, so I went ahead and redirected that page, since all the appropriate entries were already included on this list. Canadian Paul 18:16, 6 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Full life dates and ages, sorting of ages[edit]

May I propose to include the full lifespan and ages of the centenarians, but not only in this category on every list. KILLERXR (talk) 05:04, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose These people are not known for their age therefore their exact age is not significant. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 07:31, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please add Austrian-born British Orthodox rabbi Ephraim Einhorn, who was born on September 12, 1918, and who died on September 15, 2021. Here's the source too (Ephraim Einhorn, longtime Taiwan rabbi with history of international intrigue, dies at 103). 24.45.0.17 (talk) 00:12, 17 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please add Brazilian Roman Catholic prelate and bishop of Taubaté from 1981 till 1996 Antônio Afonso de Miranda, who lived from 1920 till his death at 101 in 2021. Don't forget the two sources I found ("Parabéns DOM ANTÔNIO AFFONSO DE MIRANDA, SDN – 100 anos de vida" (in pt} + Bispo emérito de Taubaté, Dom Antônio Affonso de Miranda, and morre aos 101 anos (in Portuguese)).). Will anyone include American Episcopalian prelate William Evan Sanders, who was also the 8th bishop of East Tennessee from 1985 until 1992? He was born on December 25, 1919 and has died on November 18, 2021. Don't forget his source (A Death in Our East Tennessee Family). 24.45.0.63 (talk) 04:18, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Does not seem notable enough for inclusion, just a run-of-the-mill bishop who happened to live quite a long time. DerbyCountyinNZ (Talk Contribs) 04:26, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Again who's going to include American Episcopalian prelate William Evan Sanders, who was also the 8th bishop of East Tennessee from 1985 until 1992? He was born on December 25, 1919 and has died on November 18, 2021. Don't forget his source (A Death in Our East Tennessee Family). 24.45.0.63 (talk) 16:49, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. See comments from previous request. Thanks, Heartmusic678 (talk) 17:04, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Harry Clement Williams[edit]

I was surprised to find that the Revd. Williams was not on the list, especially as it seems possible he still holds the record for known longest-lived Anglican clergyman. so I attempted to correct this, but it is difficult to find good stuff to cite, as, although there was a fair bit of media attention surrounding him in his final years at the time, much of this has not made it onto the internet...However, I'm surprised that the information that he was the father of the pioneering broadcaster, Stephen Williams, was deemed irrelevant, as this surely qualifies as something that made him known besides his longevity, as in the title of the list, and, to my mind, being the father of another significant person and, therefore responsible for their existence, is no less relevant than some of the qualifying non-religious information for other entrants on list, such as teacher, writer, nurse, founding something, oldest person to undergo a cataract operation, etc. 81.102.75.146 (talk) 09:14, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The requirements for inclusion in the list are that the person 1. Has an article. 2 Has a WP:RS that mentions that they were alive to celebrate their 100th birthday. 3. They were notable enough to have an article before they were old. So if someone is only known for doing something when they were old or because they were the oldest xxx, then they don't qualify for inclusion. There is a lot of irrelevant information included in the "Notability" section of these lists which should be removed. I tend to remove this when I notice it and have time to remove it.
