Alphabetical List and generally new "access point" for finding classical guitarists[edit]

Wikipedia requires a cleanup here, or a new "access point" for locating classical guitarists.

There is a nice and clean example at List of guitarists, which includes guitarists organized into alphabetical order. There is no such thing for classical guitarists. Since this page has a similar name, I suggest it be updated to an alphabetical list.

Alternatively, there is the group Category:Classical guitarists, which includes some entries. I propose it be expanded to included all classical guitarists, because this will automatically take care of an alphabetical listing. UmmmOK lets go (talk) 09:47, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that under Wikipedia categorization rules, an article is not to be filed directly in Category:Classical guitarists if it's already in a subcategory such as Category:Canadian classical guitarists or Category:Greek classical guitarists. Hi Checkingfax. Thanks for your note. I know what redlinks are. I am using them myself in the articles I create, whenever there is a subject notable enough to deserve an entry, which either myself or somebody else might write in the future. But in this case we are dealing with a selective list, that of international classical guitarists. There are thousands of them, globally, and probably several hundred with a Wikipedia article. Drawing up a list such as this means to be selective, necessarily. If someone merely adds a name (= red link) nobody can assess its notability. Therefore notability must first be established by a Wikipedia article. Then it may be linked here. And, besides, this is not "my shouting". It is an attempt to keep Wikipedia meaningful and prevent arbitrariness. – Aklein62 (talk) 20:44, 1 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    @Checkingfax: Please review the full line therein, especially there are some instances where they can be useful, such as when three or more columns are required. If we are unable to identify multiple interesting attributes (we probably can--based on the existence of these lists, birthdate/deathdate, sex, name are 3 alone; nationality makes 4--work as a composer makes 5), then I would agree--but tabular data is tabular data and should be provided as such. --Izno (talk) 11:16, 9 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Many woman classical guitarists are now the most accomplished in the world, and the distinction betwee men and woman guitarists is as obsolete as it is for other instruments. ...a separate list for woman is unnecessary. For those interested, the discussion concerning woman playing the classical guitar has a long, somewhat outdated, history. The debate usually centered around the fact that the demands of playing the instrument is comparable to that of the stand-up bass in that it requires a certain physical strength in the right fore-arm and the left-hand wrist and fingers. A great deal of practice time used to be spent in developing enough strength to project the sound, at least further than the first two rows :). Specialist magazines were replete with articles on this subject. The advent of state-of-the-art amplification completely changed this scenario as it allowed practice time to be devoted to creativity instead of musical push-ups. Women only play classical?[edit]

List of women guitarists and List of female guitarists redirects to this article. Why?

What about women jazz guitarists, women rock guitarists, women country guitarists, etc. etc.? I wouldn't expect them to be represented in a list exclusively devoted to classical guitarists, so where is the comprehensive list of women guitarists in other genres?

There is a stand-alone list for List of female bass guitarists, so why not for other genres?
