sentence about vijender yadav[edit]

As his/her only edit to the English Wikipedia so far, User:Pulak sharma has added this sentence to the very short prose presently in the article:

"Its IT hod's name is vijender yadav."

Here, apparently IT hod means "Information Technology Head Of Department" and a short search through the internet shows there is an engineer by the name of Vijender Yadav who works in computer software in the Pune area in India. In view of the fact that the prose of this article is so short, do we really need this fact in this article when probably more can be written about Colleges of Engineering in general? You are so kind and benevolent to initiate a discussion in the talk page for removing an edit which is almost vandalistic. --Anbu121 (talk me) 09:59, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Page Move[edit]

I don't understand why this page was moved. The entire list of colleges should have been removed and the article must be written in prose format about engineering college. It is not possible to list all the engineering colleges in the world into this single page. As of now, there is no page in Wikipedia about 'Engineering college'. I suggest to move this page back to 'Engineering college' and then remove the entire list and expand the article in prose. --Anbu121 (talk me) 20:28, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think engineering education can cover the concept, and this page can list all the schools. Neutralitytalk 00:18, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I still don't think that it is possible to list all the engineering schools in the world in a single page. --Anbu121 (talk me) 07:45, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Listing engineering colleges of the world in one article is impossible. This should be moved back to College of Engineering as eudcation in engineering is very different from what an engineering college is. The education article should ideally contain the basics of what is taught around the world in degrees/diplomas of education. This article should be covering what kinds of institutions there are around the world that impart education in engineering, what kind of infrastructure they use, what methodologies are followed etc., basically stuff where engineering colleges differ from regular colleges other than the differences caused directly due to the curriculum. This may not sound like much of a topic, but it can be expanded a lot if colleges around the world are considered.--Siddhartha Ghai (talk) 09:54, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
College of engineering currently redirects to engineering education. If you think that they ought to be separate articles, you can break out a separate article for college of engineering.
As to the difficult of listing every single one - at some future point, should the page get too large, then we can break it out by region (List of engineering schools in Europe, etc.) I think we're fine for the time being, though. Neutralitytalk 18:49, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Why to even attempt to do this? If you have a look at the state lists listed in Template:Education in India, you'll see that it'll be quite impossible to do this. Even country-level (or state-level) lists can't be done in most cases. There's no point in trying something that is bound to fail. Nevertheless, this was supposed to be an article which has been hijacked and converted into a list without any discussion on the topic. If you wanted to start a list, you should've started a list; not take an article, convert it and ask people who want the article to create a new one.--Siddhartha Ghai (talk) 00:21, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:INEI/HELIST, you shouldn't even be trying to list the engineering schools here. They belong in university-wise lists.--Siddhartha Ghai (talk) 00:23, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This page was almost 100% a list before I moved it. Renaming the page allows the content to match the title, while also preserving the page history, which is important. As I said before, we need both a list or lists (this page) and an article for prose content (engineering education, and in the future engineering education in India for more detailed country-level info, and many other articles).
