[edit]A small number of pdf references got mangled in the conversion. I think that I found all of these and have repaired them accordingly, but if I have missed any they are at http://sharkattackfile.net/spreadsheets/pdf_directory/ . Moondyne (talk) 14:54, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
Fuzzy data in South Australia section
[edit]Hi, I've done some work on this topic previously over at Shark attacks in South Australia and wanted to point out a couple of errors within the SharkAttackFile.net records.
The first of these shown below (1855) is an inaccurate duplication of a single incident at Port Wakefield that year, and can be removed.
The second lists Corio Bay, Port Phillip as the location, which is not in South Australia, but rather the state of Victoria. It would be good for consistency if SharkAttackFile.net was notified of these errors and this wiki and their database were both updated accordingly.
Reported 9 April 1855 | SA | Port Wakefield | Fell overboard from the Malacca | child | Female | 2½ | The Argus, 4/9/1855 | ||||
1864 | SA | Corio Bay, Port Phillip | Swimming | Mr. Warren, Jr. | Male | Presumed but shark involvement not confirmed | The Argus, 11/24/1868 |
Great work setting up this list. Moondyne. Danimations (talk) 09:24, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

Wrong species listed a number of times
[edit]I don't know if different sources were originally used but the species given for several of these were incorrect. I'm gonna try and fix as many as I can. BulbousCow (talk) 06:02, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
Change of name of List of fatal shark attacks in Australia to List of fatal shark-incidents in Australia
[edit]I have reverted the change of name as this needs discussion and consensus prior to the change, Their is not universal agreement on whether we should be using "shark attack" or shark incident" or some other way to describe it. For example, see the discussion on the Mick Fanning#Shark attack section. I note that the International shark attack file is the main source for a definition of a "shark attack" and they have not changed their wording. Even the Taronga Park Zoo described their web page as the "Australia's leading source of shark attack data". Ilenart626 (talk) 09:57, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
