Only four flags claim

[edit]

This may be true, but El Salvador does not actually appear to specify or contain purple in its rainbow. Is there a source for this other than editors counting by hand? --Ms7821 (talk) 20:55, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

List of flags containing the color purplePurple in heraldry – The List of flags by color has a section for purple; it is Wikipedia's actual list of flags with purple. This article talks about the meaning of purple in heraldry. Georgia guy (talk) 18:43, 14 June 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. Safari ScribeEdits! As author of the article, I support the idea. Originally I wasn't really sure how to name it, and I think this is a better name.Artemis Andromeda (talk) 23:16, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
though idk if "purple in vexillology" wouldn't be a better name, since the article as of now is about flags not coat of arms Artemis Andromeda (talk) 23:17, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that heraldry feels less appropriate - as it suggests, at least to the average user an entirely different topic. I think “purple in vexillology” is more appropriate and conveys the purpose of the article in a way that the reader is likely to expect. PurpleReindeer (talk) 01:35, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Relisting comment: Thoughts on "purple in vexillology"? – robertsky (talk) 07:46, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose both proposals. It's about flags, not heraldry, and most people are not familiar with vexillology. The current title is natural and easily understood. Killuminator (talk) 13:28, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
vexillology is flags. It's a proper term for study of flags Artemis Andromeda (talk) 16:13, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
