Talk:List of gay, lesbian or bisexual people: D–E

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

All people on this list must be confirmed gays, lesbians, and bisexuals. The Wikipedia Article on Emily Dickenson includes this sentence and citation:

"Similarly, some scholars question the poet's sexuality, theorizing that the numerous letters and poems that were dedicated to Susan Gilbert (by) Dickinson indicate a lesbian romance, and speculating about how this may have influenced her poetry.[150]"

There are three possibilities I can see.

1. The Emily Dickenson article is wrong in saying, as the above does, that her lesbian nature is simply a question from some scholors, a theory based on an indication resuting in mere speculation. It should instead say and cite the fact that she was definately a confirmed lesbian or bisexual.

2. This article is wrong in listing Emily Dickenson as a confirmed lesbian.

3. The introduction to this article/list is wrong to state that all people on the list are confirmed gay, lesbian, or bisexual.

I am removing Emily Dickenson's name from this list. Before undoing this edit, an editor should first add to the Emily Dickenson article a cited statement that Emily Dickenson's bisexuality or homosexuality has been definatively confirmed.Chrisrus (talk) 06:10, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sexual preference[edit]

Coincidently, I happened to run across this article just now, a few days after I deleted Ms. Dickenson from this page:

http://www.slate.com/id/2201944/

It shows new evidence that Emily liked sex with men. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrisrus (talkcontribs) 23:29, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Remove 'My Friend'[edit]

Somebody listed their friend on this page. If someone could remove that, just to clean stuff up, the readers would be thankful. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.12.134.152 (talk) 21:58, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please add me to the D-E gay list as follows:

John DiLeo/b.1961/American/Author/G

This can be verified in the Acknowledgments and Bios in my books: TENNESSEE WILLIAMS AND COMPANY, SCREEN SAVERS, 100 GREAT FILM PERFORMANCES YOU SHOULD REMEMBER, AND YOU THOUGHT YOU KNEW CLASSIC MOVIES!

Not done: Unless you are notable enough to have your own Wikipedia article, you cannot be on this list. Should someone ever create a Wikipedia page for you (you generally should not try to create one on yourself), then you could be added to this list. Edit request - James Dean[edit]

He was never a confirmed homosexual, but bisexual. He had relationships with both men and women, as stated and referenced in James Dean's Wikipedia page. *ETA, sorry - also a giant blank space under "D" in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_gay,_lesbian_or_bisexual_people:_D%E2%80%93E. What's the point of using that specific picture of him? his wikipedia page has a higher resolution picture, that he looks much more comfortable and relaxed looking picture than is used in this article. it's kinda creepy and casts a bad light on him.

He came out as gay. Just because these people were married, in "heterosexual" relationships and had children doesn't mean they were bisexual. It wasn't at all uncommon for gay people to suppress their sexuality like this in the past.
