Minor Breeds[edit]

Some of the less well known - and written about or citable - breeds probably would not deserve comprehensive articles on their own. How about we a single article that discusses the more rare breeds and only devote separate articles to the well known breeds? One could create an article like Rare goose breeds and then have entries here link there or instead include details about those breeds here. Any thoughts? - Owlmonkey (talk) 01:01, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Russian Wikipedia article does something like this. Someone with more than my passing knowledge of Russian could translate it, and then the breeds could link to sections in that list. Dysmorodrepanis (talk) 13:40, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

American vs. European breeds[edit]

I originally created this page as a comprehensive list of all breeds of domestic geese that are officially recognized in the US and it has now been expanded to include many international and unrecognized breeds. Would it be appropriate to create a separate article devoted only to recognized american goose breeds and leave this article as a more general guide?Upfoamer (talk) 02:14, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Probably not in that form, as most of these breeds are also common elsewhere. But an article on goose-breeding in the US (and Canada?) would naturally want to include that information... so if you have any sources that give info on the general (economic etc) state and history of American goose-breeding, you could whip up an intro section and then add that breed list - and you'll have started Goose breeding in North America (or whatever title you choose)! Capitalization[edit]

Why are so many breeds capitalized? The word "goose" should not be capitalized. Jodosma (talk) 11:36, 9 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Breed names are capitalised in Wikipedia as in reliable sources elsewhere; if "Goose" is part of the name of the breed, it should be capitalised. See discussion at American Paint Horse#Requested moves. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 13:34, 9 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
