Unsourced sections

[edit]

Two sections in this article, Timeline of nominal gross records by language and Timeline of gross records are almost entirely unsourced. The only entries reliably sourced in the former section are K.G.F: Chapter 2 and Enthiran. And for the latter, the only entry with a reliable reference is RRR while the others are cited using an IMDb article which fails WP:RS. For now, I am blanking both these sections. Protected Edit Request

[edit]

Since the article has been vandalized by changing the box office gross and making the BO of the films that has various gross numbers to the single digit only, as it was done for few of the films like 2.0 (film), making the ranking upside down (as it was for Mersal), I would like to request to make this article protected for making the article more reliable.
Thank you!

Why did the language in the main table change to "Industry"?

[edit]

Based on this thread Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film/Indian cinema task force#CBFC mystery, it is evident that in Indian cinema, if a film is multilingual, it is due to the filmmakers' efforts and advertising. This does not guarantee the quality of the simultaneously shot version compared to a full native production because the CBFC only requires certain qualifications, and if the applicant meets those, the film will receive certification in the required language. Thus, the claim of a film being multilingual is ultimately the filmmakers' assertion. Therefore, it is essential to identify which film industry the film belongs to. Furthermore, many films on the list are released in multiple dubbed languages, and the box office figures for these films include these dubbed versions. Consequently, denoting that only simultaneously shot films' grosses include other simultaneously shot languages can lead to preferential treatment. Instead, I have clarified which films belong to which industry and why they appear on the list of another industry via footnotes. Anoop Bhatia (talk) 09:32, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
