[edit]- The data in the lists are the box offices of mainland China, excluding those of Hong Kong or Taiwan--Baomi (talk) 06:00, 14 August 2017 (UTC)

- Oppose — The nominator is right to request more clarity, but after a long and thorough discussion that took place in 2011, the article People's Republic of China was moved to its current name: China. The name "List of highest-grossing films in China" is therefore clear and in respect of WP's naming policy. I think linking to China and adding a short comment that this list excludes Taiwan and Hong Kong should be sufficient to make this list as clear as it should be. Besides, because "Mainland China" may or may not include Hong Kong, it is not as clear an improvement as the nominator may think. Madalibi (talk) 07:30, 14 August 2017 (UTC)

List of highest-grossing films in China → List of highest-grossing films in Mainland China – The data in the lists are the box offices of mainland China, excluding those of Hong Kong or Taiwan Baomi (talk) 07:43, 14 August 2017 (UTC) --Relisting. - Support - If we use "China", the data should include those of Hong Kong and Macao, even the Taiwan, but the fast is the data in the list does not include them. In another way, if we use "Mainland China", others can Know it must not include Taiwan, and maybe not include Hong Kong, the latter can use a note in the content to explain. So "Mainland China" is better. --Baomi (talk) 15:55, 18 August 2017 (UTC)
- Weak support per WP:PRECISE, but the current title still needs to redirect to the article with a hatnote for List of highest-grossing films in Hong Kong. Timmyshin (talk) 04:30, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose. On Wikipedia, most lists about something in China is titled "List of ...... in China".--Getareu8 (talk) 08:03, 26 August 2017 (UTC)

Corrections
[edit]Looks like some incorrect data seeped into this page... For example, "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" is listed as a Chinese production even though the referenced source data considers it an American production. Is this data being produced by some automatic/scheduled process, or is it safe to correct it by hand? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 133.237.7.77 (talk) 05:15, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
Historical Chinese box office sources
[edit]For the timeline section, we need more reliable Chinese-language sources that provide historical box office data (between the 1940s and 1990s). Such as the gross revenue and the number of tickets sold, for both domestic and foreign films released in China. Does anyone here know any sources like that? Or would there be anyone willing to translate any such sources? I don't read Chinese, but am mainly relying on Google Translate. This reliable source appears to have screenshots of Chinese text that can't be Google-Translated. Are there any other films and their box office numbers mentioned in those screenshots? I've also found some maybe not-so-high-quality sources like this, this, this and this. They appear to be referencing more reliable Chinese sources, but I can't quite make it out with Google Translate, and can't track down the original sources for the data provided. Can someone (such as a Chinese speaker/reader) help out with this? Maestro2016 (talk) 22:31, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

[edit]I don't know what "domestic" means - Is it films made in China by Chinese staff etc.? If so, then why is The Eight Hundred not on the list?Kdammers (talk) 01:32, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
