Should Australian Historic Homesteads be merged into this? --Mathieu ottawa (talk) 02:37, 6 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yep. The Drover's Wife (talk) 09:44, 6 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I propose that Australian historic homesteads be merged into List of historic homesteads in Australia. I started making changes to the formatting of the article at Australian historic homesteads before I realised that the article is duplicated here. I've not gone through and checked to see if the content matches. But once there is agreement, I'll do that. My comments here of relevance regarding the mess of these two articles. There being no input into discussion, the merge has been completed. Immediately below is the content from the former talk page. Rangasyd (talk) 12:30, 27 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Lord, what a mess. You've done a great job smashing it into at least some sort of shape. I know I'd noticed it a couple of times before and run screaming rather than try to fix it. The Drover's Wife (talk) 12:41, 28 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Clean up[edit]

This article is a huge mess. There has been little thought put into its structure and there seems to be overly heavy weighting to historical houses in both Tasmania and South Australia, that seem to out-number (on look, not count) some of the more-populous states where it is reasonably likely that there are more examples of historic homesteads (acknowledging that this requires evidence). Further, there is no classification by which a house is listed in the article; it appears somewhat arbitary. The referencing system is poor throughout the article. Images, that may add value to the article, are not present, other than recent edits to improve the situation. The layout of the tables is not easy on the eye (corrected all but SA & Tasmania to date). Ruwoltj has been a major contributor to the article, and the user holds a strong interest in Federation architecture, which is fine; but the article needs to be placed in context of other articles on similar subjects. Finally, is this article is a list, perhaps it should be renamed as List of Australian historic homesteads as the way the article stands now, it appears to describe what makes up an Australian historic homestead, and not represent a list of.... @Ruwoltj:, @The Drover's Wife:, @Mathieu ottawa: Please refer to the (above) proposal to merge this article into the List of historic homesteads in Australia and discuss here. I suggest that the format used here be used in the new article. Rangasyd (talk) 16:25, 24 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
