Origin stories need special care[edit]

Most recent archaeological and historical studies of the Germanic peoples question the historical accuracy of traditional accounts of origins and migrations. Can anyone find a reliable recent source supporting the story of origins in Bornholm and subsequent migrations? --SteveMcCluskey 22:18, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Looked around a little, did not find it. Can't rule out that one exists, but yes, you are right. Most sources say "believed to have come from". Will look a bit more Elinruby (talk) 01:30, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Questions[edit]

"Flavius Aëtius moves the Burgundians into Sapaudia (Upper Rhône Basin)." -- since he was a Roman general presumably this was a military pushback? This wording makes it sound like he was their leader and saw greener pastures.

Separate administration under the Franks?[edit]

There is a line in the article that Burgundy would have a separate administration under the Franks. Can someone explain what this means? As far as I am aware of, there wasn't anything like a modern administration in the Early Middle Ages, there were just royal courts and local rulers. So is there any kind of local rulership here?
