Improper Citations

[edit]

Does the John Crawford citation need to be here next to the Beavercreek PD? I don't really see how it fits. Thanks.72.33.248.225 (talk) 03:52, 21 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You can change it if you like, although I do not see why. It simply confirms there is such a department. Paul, in Saudi (talk) 05:54, 21 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not delete cites as you did on the list of law enforcement agnecies in Ohio. Many thanks. Paul, in Saudi (talk) 03:14, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

mistake, I only meant to remove NEWS references, per discussion back in July 2015. • SbmeirowTalk04:32, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I suspect you are wrong. I see no rule that says we must use only offical sites as cites. As you noticed, some departments have no web presence and some states have no good lists. What say we take this up a level and get a ruling? Paul, in Saudi (talk) 06:42, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have asked Acroterion to add his wise judgement to this dispute. I have outlined my position on his talk page. Paul, in Saudi (talk) 16:25, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This is where it should be disputed. • SbmeirowTalk18:08, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not going to waste a bunch of time writing up an argument, because there was an old discussion in July at discussion and old edit [1] by User:Nyttend around the same time frame. There were at least 3 people that felt these types of references were the wrong way to do it, but Paul ignored our viewpoints. • SbmeirowTalk04:08, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Improper citation 2, electric bugaboo

[edit]

There is a Phillipsburg Police Department, but the only cite is an unfavorable news story and a few blogs. [1] So I left it with no cite. Still, that seems wrong. ''Paul, in Saudi'' (talk) 04:56, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Unfavorable Citation 3

[edit]

I added Bellaire (Village) Police Department on the strength of recent news report. The news reports are unfavorable so I cannot use them as a cite. The department hardly has a web presence. (The village hardly has a web presence.) So we have an entry with no cite. Here is the cite to the unfavorable CNN news story. [1]
