Call for expansion[edit]

If anyone else has a special edition board, please photograph it, upload the photograph, and add the appropriate description! --JohnDBuell 02:26, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have an Aachen one but no camera, so if anyone else could get a pic.... --iamajpeg 10:25, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
My sister has a millennium edition, I might take a picture later Rootbeersoup 05:23, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So do I, we could atleast list it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.137.233.158 (talk) 13:53, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I work at a local game store in my mall and we have quite a few monopolys listed here, it wouldnt be at all difficult for me to photogrpah many of them, however, i dont know what the difference is to many of them. Oh, and the bond edition that was just released isnt on the list, nor the snoopy ( not peanuts, just snoopy) version, nor the Rudolph edition, nor the john deer edition, and i dont think i saw the Here and Now edition either though i may have just missed it. Neiman Marcus offered in its 1978 Christmas catalog a $600 Milk Chocolate Edition of Monopoly. The entire game was chocolate. On February 1, 2008 the NBC game show, 1 vs. 100 asked a question about this edition. I'm not sure exactly how it was worded, but it went something like, Neiman Marcus once sold a $600 edition of Monopoly made entire of this. The contestent chose not to answer this because he wasn't sure of the answer. Good thing, because he said he was thinking it was probably gold. I knew it couldn't be gold, because a single piece would easily cost more than $600 if it were made of gold. So I did a little research and found out about the chocolate edition. The answer was never provided on the show. I found the answer at Hasbro.com Sorry, I don't know how to edit a wikipedia page and I don't want to take a chance messing up the existing list of editions. But for anyone who does know how, this Neiman Marcus Mild Chocolate edition should be added to the list. I could find no information about the number of this edition which sold. Currently, there is a "Chocolate-opoly" being sold. But it is not made entirely of chocolate and is only chocolate themed. It sells for around $20-$25. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gahagan54 (talkcontribs) 04:01, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looney Tunes edition[edit]

Note that there IS a second Looney Tunes edition board (with a red lid, different tokens, etc.), one that was produced by USAopoly under license from Hasbro. The latter board is NOT a numbered limited edition, and was sold in wide release. --JohnDBuell 02:49, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Chocolate Monopoly Game was licensed by Parker Bros. to Confections by Sandra in 1978. It was the most highly publicized gift item in the world in 1978, appearing in everything from National Geographic to The Christian Science Monitor. It was created by my sister, Sandra Katzman. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.128.67.84 (talk) 05:52, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nintendo Monopoly[edit]

When I was at Nintendo World in New York, I saw a Nintendo Monopoly game. When I got home and read my Aug. issue of Nintendo Power, I found out that they were selling it in other stores too. If someone else doesn't do this soon, I plan to. dogman15 22:12, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Some information on this edition is now available on usaopoly.com, as well as a new American Chopper edition. --JohnDBuell 02:33, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If someone can provide descriptions, i can provide photos Ace1580 07:11, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

List expansion[edit]

Oh PLEASE let's not make this just another list of bland links with no descriptions or photographs! PLEASE? The list on Monopoly (game), that was merely just links, was getting sooooooooooo long. And all the titles are great, but I like seeing what has made all the different boards unique.... Okay, off of my soapbox. --JohnDBuell 01:50, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I absolutely agree that it is better to have more information than not enough, but [IMO] it's really nice to have a master list to be able to simply add information to, and rather than have each entry with a differently formatted wikitable, I added blanks so there would be more consistency as the page grew. HobbesPDX 02:15, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I will take photos of the editions I own, and upload them, but I don't have much in the way of historical info/trivia. -- HobbesPDX 02:20, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kiss[edit]

I saw a version in a store called 'Kiss Monopoly' it has members of the kiss band on the front

"Kiss-opoly" is an unoffical board. It's one of Late for the Sky Production Company's games, not an official Hasbro license. --JohnDBuell 00:03, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What else to include?[edit]

Should we include the different "basic game" boards for Spain, where they are clearly based on Barcelona or Madrid? What about the "Handheld Electronic" edition? Or skip that last one, since it's not actually a "board"? --JohnDBuell 00:46, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Still more boards[edit]

I recently saw a copy of "Option One Mortgage Company Limited Edition" Monopoly in a mortgage banker's office. This was probably another company who had a set of games made up for them to give away in a promotion. --JohnDBuell 16:35, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There are two separate lists, this one and the one for localised verions. There seems to be some overlap between these. LukeSurl 11:58, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There are a few games that are duplicated, but the list here goes into more detail about specific boards and game sets, which the other article does not (the only differences pointed out there are regarding the properties on the localized boards). This article also includes or is meant to include as many of the third party licenses as possible. As long as the actual information remains different, I really don't see that the overlap should be a significant problem. --JohnDBuell 16:23, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Licensed[edit]

How can you tell if your game is a licensed edition. I have many different versions, and a couple aren't listed on this page including the Millenium edition and My Marvel Heroes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.137.233.158 (talk) 13:56, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Monopoly 1935 Reproduction lid.jpg[edit]

Image:Monopoly 1935 Reproduction lid.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Thank you.

Protected[edit]

I've currently protected several pages, including this one, for three days in response to edit wars over non-free image use. Please try to resolve these issues through discussion and the dispute resolution process. Relevant discussion at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content#Edit-warring and elsewhere; please participate there instead of risking further page locks and user blocks. – Luna Santin (talk) 03:36, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New article[edit]

I created a new article and a new template with the intent of combining this article and Localized versions of the Monopoly game into one nice, neat and consistant article for ALL Monopoly variations. If it gets too big, we can consider splitting it up, but in a way that stays consistant and doesn't create a bunch of overlap (like there is now). If anyone is interested in helping, the first order of business is to move board details from this article to the new article making use of the new template. Data from this article has been merged with Licensed and localized editions of Monopoly and this article now redirects to that article. JBarta (talk) 07:05, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
