Ordering and naming conventions

[edit]

What is the ordering used for these lists, and what is the rationale for naming the sublists using a slash and an apparently arbitrary number? The preferred style according to Wikipedia:Naming conventions (lists) would be something like "List of listed buildings in Edinburgh: A–F" by name. At least a colon would be preferable to a slash, which implies subpages, a feature that's disabled for main namespace. Hairy Dude (talk) 02:23, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. It's unsearchable and unbrowsable - it might as well not exist. The introduction states that they are arranged by parish, but it's anyone's guess how these correlate with the numbers 1-33. It should be some sort of alphabetical scheme. Also, these are WP:INDISCRIMINATE lists - most buildings included seem to be non-notable houses with no Wikipedia article of their own. See WP:LSC. @Fayenatic london: I created these links a long time ago to help people getting started. Usually these kind of lists get adopted, expanded, restructured, updated, to something much better. For Haarlem ended up having some lists by street, see nl:Categorie:Lijsten van rijksmonumenten in Haarlem.
Feel free to restructure here too to whatever makes sense. As for notability: Every building is individually listed by Historic Environment Scotland. This is not the list of all buildings in Edinburgh, just the listed ones. Multichill (talk) 17:54, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
