Accuracy[edit]

Some of the Members of Parliament listed here actually haven't served thirty years, for example, Whetu Tirikatene-Sullivan. Why is that? J 947 19:03, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Whether Atmore has served for thirty years or not is disputed by Kiwichris. He cites a source which probably referred to Atmore as "serving for 30 years" or something like that. I get my information from looking at wikipedia articles which show Atmore serving for a few months less than 30 years. Thoughts? J 947 07:03, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Let's look at a reliable source and apply WP:CALC. This is how Atmore is recorded in Wilson's Parliamentary History (1985, p. 181), with me then calculating the duration in days:

			years	29.64

Annette King[edit]

@Playlet: Given that we've got a "reliable" (but inaccurate) source stating that King has served 30 years, should we discuss this in prose? Also, should we maybe mention that the list is blokes only, with at least two women having just missed the cut? Schwede 66 04:34, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like someone in the source was using a very crude calculation from their start date to their end date without considering time they spent outside of the parliament. Similar pages do not mention the status of women in the list, but I have no issue with your suggestion (I even think it is a positive) Playlet (talk) 14:05, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The parliamentary records themselves have King on their list with 30.19 years as a member (see here) so I've re-added her to the list. Kiwichris (talk) 23:13, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I've stuck those dates given for King into a spreadsheet and that comes to 11,021 days in total, which is indeed 30.19 years. Assuming those dates are correct, King's been there for over 30 years. No idea where my initial comment above comes from. Schwede 66 01:03, 5 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
