Duration Factors

I did some research to find the factors that control the length of gestation, which is what I was originally trying to find here on Wikipedia. There are not many sources with this information. Anyone have anything else or think of something needing to be added or opinion on importance? Kilaelya (talk) 11:26, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

duplication

This article has strong ovelap with Gestation and should perhaps be combined — Preceding unsigned comment added by Annaswims (talkcontribs) 02:18, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

I agree. Once I have the wherewithal, I'll try to dig up the appropriate template and tag both articles, but if someone beats me to it, more power to 'em & thanks in advance! --Geekdiva (talk) 18:22, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

giraffe gestation period

I noticed that the gestation period of a giraffe is listed as 450 days. My independent research says that it is infact 460. I did this research on google by typing "gestation period of geraffe". google auto-corrects this to "gestation period of giraffe", and says that the gestation period is longer than listed here. please do more fact checking! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.179.121.226 (talk) 05:03, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

Units for gestation period

The median measure on this table is 150 days (the goat). 150 days is better stated in months as 150 days is beyond where the general public is used to thinking in the unit of days. Human gestation is commonly given as 9 months which provides a reference point for comparison for gestation durations of other creatures. I suggest we use months and days as the unit of measure on this page. I think stating the duration in months and days is most important for time units beyond 90 days, but will in addition work well for the shorter gestation periods. Gestation table

I suggest this should be removed or at least researched properly. I don't know about other animals but it is well known that human gestation can be much longer that 280 days, that's 40 weeks and considered the "norm" in some countries but by no means is it the maximum. I don't see what point there is to a table of inaccurate data.
