Clifton Hall Colliery[edit]

Clifton Hall Colliery (disaster 18 June 1885) was located in Clifton, not Pendlebury. It was just off Lumns Lane, Clifton. Lumns Lane runs between its junction with Rake Lane, Clifton and Agecroft Road (A6044), Pendlebury. About 80% of Lumns Lane is in Clifton. The boundary between Clifton and Pendlebury on Lumns Lane is where Slack Brook (Clifton/Pendlebury boundary) flows beneath the road on its way to the River Irwell further into the valley. The site has been a rubbish/recycling facility for many years. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.185.188.20 (talk) 20:42, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It is now correctly located in the article. Pendlebury was used in the sources I used. Please don't add messages in ref tags. Part of Clifton was incorporated into Swinton and Pendlebury in 1933, hence the current location. J3Mrs (talk) 21:36, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Pendlebury and Clifton are two separate districts. Clifton Hall Colliery was in Clifton (not far from Clifton Hall itself), not Pendlebury. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.185.188.20 (talk) 13:17, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You wrote above "Please don't add messages in ref tags. Part of Clifton was incorporated into Swinton and Pendlebury in 1933, hence the current location." Why on Earth should I not add bona fide messages in 'ref tags'?

You also wrote "Part of Clifton was incorporated into Swinton and Pendlebury in 1933, hence the current location." Sure the key 'word' here is '1933'. Having said that, the disaster was well before (18th June 1885) the "incorporation into Swinton and Pendlebury". That being the case, in 1885 there would surely have not been the connection with S&P (which just happens to be my hometown, born Clifton 1946, the hometown of both my parents (b. Pendlebury 1908 & 1910) and three of my grandparents (b. Pendlebury 1875, 1885 (2)). What's your qualification for your knowledge about my hometown then? I honestly feel just a tad insulted by your dismissive comments.

The talk page is for messages, not the article. I have added the current location for Bedford, Leigh and Darcy Lever, Bolton so why should your hometown be any different? J3Mrs (talk) 19:53, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Stone Hill Colliery[edit]

@Genealogy Phil: I don't want to appear callous, but an accident involving only one man (George Bryne) does not normally count as a disaster. Furthermore, there is a {{sfn}} to the Farnworth Weekly Journal of 1888, but there is no citation for this. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 20:27, 18 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
