Tidying

[edit]

I did some tidying of this page, added a few obvious omissions. There are a few more samples to hunt down, which I'll try to do. I don't think it's worth mentioning the designers of each font, but I've left the information in footnotes for now. Not a monospaced font

[edit]

Hmm. The font in the "Example 2" column for the Vera Sans Mono font is not a monospaced font at all. 193.227.205.250 15:57, 2 April 2007 (UTC) ~ You are right. I just corrected this Diego Torquemada 16:41, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why is this a separate page? Propose merge into Monospaced typefaces page.

[edit]

Garkbit (talk) 18:10, 5 February 2009 (UTC) Why is "samples of..." a separate page? Why not merge into Monospaced typefaces page? (and make graphics smaller, btw). This seems like this page --- as is --- it might violate the "wikipedia is not a random collection of information" rule?[reply]

In theory this ariticle is a WP:LIST. No problem with that. It could be merged with monospaced font as well. I don't really have an opinion on that. Tijfo098 (talk) 23:56, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Part of a set of Samples of typefaces

[edit]

Oppose deletion This list of display typefaces is part of a set of lists, and should not be deleted. There is certainly room for improvement in every one of these lists, including much missing information, but the samples are useful for webmasters. Here is the rest of the set:

This list is not an orphan, there are several links to it, including the ones above. --DThomsen8 (talk) 23:33, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Strongly oppose Why is this article not listed on its proposal date? Why is this discussion not taking place in the usual location? This article provides illustration for monospaced font without adding clutter there. ⇔ ChristTrekker 19:49, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's not an Afd. Darrenhusted (talk) 20:40, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I Found this article from a link on the monospaced font page - it was useful, as I couldn't remember the name of a monospaced font to send someone a code snippit. from that point of view, the article served it's purpose, so I think it should stay 81.137.159.61 (talk) 12:16, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You can google monospaced fonts and find the font you want quicker. Darrenhusted (talk) 19:18, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the dated prod template. In my opinion, the article is useful and it does have links. It does have red links and missing information in the two tables, but I intend to improve the article with samples and probably other fonts. I would invite other editors to do the same. --DThomsen8 (talk) 01:13, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Photos requested

Add Cousine?

[edit]

Cousine is the default monospaced typeface for Chromebooks (or, at least mine). Designed by Steve Matteson. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scottfrizzell (talkcontribs) 19:51, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Examples of box drawing characters

[edit]

Would be nice to add a column showing what fonts support the Box-drawing character. For example, show a picture like this:

           +-------+-------+-------+
           | C-c ` | C-c ^ | C-c ' |
           | (NW) | (N) | (NE) |
           +-------+-------+-------+
           | C-c < | | C-c > |
           | (W) | | (E) |
           +-------+-------+-------+
           | C-c / | C-c . | C-c \ |
           | (SW) | (S) | (SE) |
           +-------+-------+-------+

rendered using box-drawing characters:

           ┌───────┬───────┬───────┐
           │ C─c ` │ C─c ^ │ C─c ' │
           │ (NW) │ (N) │ (NE) │
           ├───────┼───────┼───────┤
           │ C─c < │ │ C─c > │
           │ (W) │ │ (E) │
           ├───────┼───────┼───────┤
           │ C─c / │ C─c . │ C─c \ │
           │ (SW) │ (S) │ (SE) │
           └───────┴───────┴───────┘

Some fonts (e.g. Inconsolata) do not render the box-drawing characters as fixed width. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.212.128.4 (talk) 14:20, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

GNU Unifont

[edit]

Is GNU Unifont (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_Unifont and https://unifoundry.com/unifont/( worth adding to the list? 147.161.244.113 (talk) 09:26, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
