Subject

[edit]

This subject of destroyed monuments but this article as it stands seems problematic. The very first entry, for example, was destroyed by the Taliban when they ruled Afghanistan. So how is that a monument destroyed by war?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikiombudsman (talkcontribs)

The distinction between peace and war is always a little blurry. The Taliban remained at war with the Northern Alliance, I believe.--Anders Feder (talk) 02:08, 3 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Duplication

[edit]

It is unclear to me why this article was duplicated on: Monuments destroyed by war?--Anders Feder (talk) 01:15, 3 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Article name

[edit]

Can we remove the "by war" portion of the title. Several of the monuments were destroyed in circumstances outside of war. Wikiombudsman (talk) 02:00, 3 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I principally agree. "List of monuments destroyed in the Middle East" sounds too general, in my opinion, though.--Anders Feder (talk) 02:05, 3 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Also, all of there seems to be time period narrowing the article content. 21st Century? Otherwise we can go all the way back in history with temples and such being destroyed, but that doesn't seem to be the intended subject matter of this article. Only Middle East?

[edit]

This article also talks about the monument Quaid-e-Azam Residency which is not located in the middle east. So I suggest that either the article be renamed or the section on Pakistan be removed. Any thoughts? @Anders Feder:. Faizan (talk) 12:39, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. "List of monuments destroyed during conflict in modern times" or something along those lines?--Anders Feder (talk) 13:44, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yup. List of monuments damaged by conflict in the 21st century will be a good one. Faizan (talk) 18:30, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
